Few (crappy) pics of my S1:







Got a few bits on the way; servo mount, ballcups, roll bars and turnbuckles from TQ. Need to trim the body mounts too, just haven't been bothered to sort that yet.

Are those the Spec-R shocks or Sakura shocks? the color may be off from the picture. Looks like those or maybe the TOP shocks?..

Spec-R, probably the camera washing the colours out a bit. Running Tamiya springs - white/blue.

Looks great and I'd be interested in knowing how it handled with the 5.5 BL motor. I changed my ESC to a Tekin RS last weekend and now have all my electronics on the chassis plate same as you.

I've ordered some spare parts just in case, along with the alloy steering servo mount, alloy clamping wheel hexes and alloy fan mount to add some colour. I've also painted a new ProtoForm Mazda 6 shell in metallic orange.

Felt pretty good, although I was struggling for rear grip for a while until I changed to the springs you see in the picture. They seemed to calm the car down, while making it respond to inputs more reliably. Interested to try it with the roll bars when they turn up, should help out. Running a Mazda 6 too, specifically the Hot Bodies one, I'll get some pics of that at some point.

Here's a pic of my layout which is similar to what Fuzzi0n did. I'm using a Tamiya HD servo saver on a KO PS712 steering servo, Losi MRX-3000 receiver, Tekin RS speed control, Viper 17.5 BL motor, AMB transponder.

Has anybody else tried the Reflex Racing spool cups? With the Spec-R DCJ's and blades attached, there is not enough plunge to be able to mount them properly. It won't work properly on this car.

I'm pretty sure I didn't assemble it wrong, but I am open to suggestions.

Joe, try trimming the blades a bit. The issue can happen when the car is run too narrow. Our DCJ's will be slightly shorter compared to the XRAY ones, however I have not seen the length of the Spec R Units

Thanks I will give that a try. What would be the next wider front end setup with the toe blocks? Looks like the 3 dot inserts pointing outward.

Finished building my s1 kit last night, it required a bit of fitting to get everything smooth. The lay shaft supports weren't quite right causing the belt to rub.

The smallest spur I could fit is a Robinson 78t (64p)

The car weighs 551 grams bare

What size pinion are you using with a spur that small? 83/47 was the smallest I could get. What turn motor?

did my first racemeeting with the car yesterday

17.5boosted on carpet
the track had medium traction at start and the car was quite nice to drive in practice, using yokomo springs (jeffs hangar setup, but with 3k oil in the rear diff and yokomo springs)
when qualy started the traction went up and the car got quite hard to drive, lost the rear in fast corners and it just felt lazy in the corners.
changed to tamiya white/blue springs, added 0.5spacers to widen the car in the front and removed the carbon fiber piece in the steering, the car was a dream to drive! i was quite tired after way too little sleep so my driving wasnt at the best (finnished 6th in the a) but i must say that i really love the car, just keeps getting better and better!
had a couple of hard hits (one of them being full speed crash into a barrier) and nothing broken, really impressed with the quality of the parts!
