I'm looking at getting a new car - can somebody tell me how the R1 compares to a T4 or TC6.1?
This car seems like a bargain compared to the others. I am not the best racer so not sure I could get any extra seconds by paying more for a T4 or TC6.1.

Hiya,

Quality wise it's not on par with the T4, but X-ray are a step above most companies when it comes to quality, and this is obviously reflected in the price.
But compared to the TC6.1 the build is just about as good, it actually required less shimming that my AE did to remove any slop.

If you choose one, you won't be disappointed I am sure

With the flanged 3x6x2.5 bearing on the layshaft? are we running the flange INSIDE the bulkhead or Outside? Does it replace the flanged plastic pieces that go on each end of the layshaft stock?

They replace the bearings in the pulleys.

Those would need to be 5x8x2.5 bearings to do that, not the smaller 3x6x2.5's he mentioned.

@ JayL

Which size bearings do you have - the layshaft doesn't turn and therefore doesn't need bearings to replace the plastic parts at either end. What some of us have done is replaced the two 5x8x2.5 bearings that go in the pulleys with flanged ones of the same dimensions to remove some of the play. I found I didn't need shims at all, some use the kit shims.

Is this in place of DCJs or the standard drive shafts?

is it the same plastic in the s1 as the r1? looking at the price it would be cheaper to buy a s1 kit to get a extra diff, suspension parts etc

Here are a few pics of my S1 after racing it last Sunday. I was TQ for my club's GT2 class which is 17.5 blinky.
