Tougher plastic, but that goes for the R1 as well. This is the main reason I'm jumping ship.

oh damn, an r2? ill be on that me thinks. my s1 has done very well in stock and i was tempted to get an r1 prospec, but also considering the vbc since im running their 12th scale to decent success.
if r2 prices are similar ill probably get rid of my s1 and get two of em.
my only real complaints with the s1 so far were steering blocks. ive since replaced them with xray cause they always fail on the lower screw. a little more material here would be better. maybe less carbon in the material so it has some give.
the lower arms being hard as they are is fine, never broken one. killed the kingpin instead lol. steering blocks just dont have any give though. i wouldnt be surprised if i could kill one in my hands on the bench.
through hole ballcups of a harder material please. considering the overwhelming migration to tamiya ballcups they better have fixed that.

funny. i found the shocks for this car pretty nice. plastic bodies are very smooth and build alright but the aluminum caps can cross the threads on the bodies VERY easily if you dont find the thread properly when assembling. I was worried about the diaphrams but everything seems to work just fine. aluminum bodies would probably be nice but only if coated somehow, i dont think you would get that for $22/set lol.

if you take your time building these shocks, get the threads right they last and work flawless.

the dif.. though kinda retarded.. cant imagine any reason there needs to be FOUR ballbearings in a dif. my xray with NO ballbearings is every bit as smooth.

i think ill buy a second dif and play around with limited slip. glow some plates to the dif body and play with friction plates and shimming. get adjustable locking on power.

The R1 was replaced by the Pro Spec, very little difference except for the thinkness of both the chassis & top plate.

What mate, you haven't even gotten the R1 & you're talking update already.

I didn't think the ProSpec was a replacement for the R1. Even the box that it comes in is an R1 box with the addition of a little decal stating that it included a few upgraded parts.

Try buying a R1 now, there seems to be no stock, the SpecR site had out of stock on the R1 when I bought my ProSpec, now 3 months later there is still no stock, you can buy the R1 spec chassis & top plate, but not the actual kit.

Stock of s1's and r1's dried up first. I'm not sure that means the Pro Spec was a replacement for the r1. Not that it really matters.

I just considered the Pro Spec as the R1 2013, just a chassis refresher. The R1 has been sold out for about 6-8 months.

Shipping from Netherlands would make this car as much as an XRay. LOL

Really? I'm curious as to why. I just switched the other way, but won't get to try the T4 until this weekend. I'm expecting better, not worse.

I have both, Spec-R R1 Pro Spec and Xray T4'14. The R1 is a VTA car, the T4 is Stock TC. Not really much to compare them by. The R1 is more like the T3'12 with more modern upgrades such as the suspension mounts and floating servo. The T4 is superior in every way.

Just about to upgrade to the R1 standard version from an S1. I am hoping that there is a noticeable improvement. Thanks Wal

There definitely is. The chassis and top deck alone will make a big difference.
