metalnut-- We're in Brisbane Australia.
RDS- I've made 2 small orders from TQ, been here in 10-14 days, ordered the new car (which is the 'faster' post), see how quick it arrives.
Usually anything from asian takes ages, that's why I went with TQ. Ordered parts for the Pro-spec last night from HobbyKing, I'll see how that goes.
The R1 is ready for tonight, I'll take you up on the offer of the 10.5T motor, no rush, I'll be fitting the 13.5 over the 2 weeks between meetings, the R1 will then become a 'guest driver' car (Paul & Kerry will be driving it), see if the nitro tourer boys can handle the different characteristics of the elec tourer, I'll run the Pro with a new 10.5T I've ordered.
I'll see you guys if you make it tonight, it's a slow beastie with the 21.5T in it, back off the throttle completely once & feather it 3 times otherwise it's full noise the whole lap

Could be an advantage being on full throttle for the whole lap. apart from the the 2 straights. But that can be fixed with gearing maybe.
Roger. I am sure that there are more than 3 of us in Australia that run the SpecR. If it is known that the parts were available in Australia and could be posted and to your door within 3 days then I am sure that people will buy from him rather than direct. Like they say "If you build it they will come"

And i will not be with Spec-R for much longer, as soon as I have burned up all my spares, I will be selling my 2 pro specs and jumping ship to Hobao, probably mid to late next year that will happen.

If I had $5k spare and ran a hobby shop I would jump at it. The Habao looks interesting.

First run of my s1 tonight.
It was stock setup apart from the roll bars.
It went pretty well, the back end was a bit lively but I'll sort that out.
I need to mess about with my esc and motor for a bit of boost then hopefully I'll be nearer to the top guys.
I'm really impressed with the car. It took a couple of big hits and kept going.

DaveAustin5 Sounds like you had a great night racing. These cars are pretty durable and will stand up to a little more punishment than some of the others. Parts are great value and servicing is easy enough. Might I suggest gearing changes as apposed to motor and timing?

I'm pretty confident the gearing is fine. I was running my esc in blinky mode, I believe everyone else was using boost. At least I presume they had boost because most were a lot faster a straight line!
I might leave it a few weeks first until I'm back up to speed with things.

Valk, one of the tracks I race at runs a 10.5T class for TC and they don't mind if you run either rubber or foam. Each has its advantages. On their track (outdoor asphalt) it is very hard on foam and they can wear quickly. Rubber lasts longer but doesn't grip quite as well.
Dave, there should be some form of rules though with regard to running 'blinky' or mod in the same race. Maybe just ask some of the other drivers what they are running and or get them to help with setup. I know most of the guys I run with are more than happy to help out with setup as having more guys running together brings it down to driver skill rather than setup advantages.

It seems quite a relaxed club, they don't seem too fixated with rules (hence foam and rubber!). Suits me.

Have to say, the R1 was easy to drive, even in the #2 final with a missing R/R shock, smashed off the car (never did find the shock either) when another driver caught me on the back straight.
The 21.5 was way too slow, the 10.5 guys were catching me every 3 laps, still managed to qualify 10th for the final (10 car grid for final), ran 7th in the final #1, 8th in final #2.
Got a full new set en route from SpecR, got a top shelf used set (minus the bottom eyes & spring collars) from the local dealer at the track, I may eventually fit the full set of these to the car.
Fitted the 13.5t, just trying to find someone with some shock parts to build a new one early next week, I need some practice with the 13.5, before the next meeting.
Didn't break any parts, the shock came off the ball ends cleanly, got hit a few times, twice hard enough to see the car fly through the air & land about 5-10 metres later, learnt about putting some velcro under the battery (bumped a side board & spat the battery out the side) the battery never moved after that (including all the big hits), my nitro driving workmates were impressed with the handling of the car (more so when the shock decided enough was enough), they could see the car picking up the left front wheel in the corners & squirreling down the straights.
A good debut night, I was hoping not to came dead last, the car made that target possible.

If you can borrow two shocks from pretty much anything thats your best bet. Nice that you can get all 4 spec r shocks for $25 though. No fancy low friction materials but i dont really have any complaints about the plastic s1 shocks. They arent my full optioned serpent ones but meh. Most are pretty similar.
