Spec-R R1
#2013

I'm just unlucky in the angle of the hits I take, I think. The crash that took me out on Saturday, although not that big, demolished the internals of one of the outdrives. You could argue that it's better to break a plastic outdrive than sheer a metal dogbone, but I'd like to see how metal-on-metal works for me. I may be back to plastic.

Finally got to run my s1 today. After some work with the local setup guru we got this thing straight up dialed for a high traction outdoors asphalt track. Once I gain access to a computer (laptop died) I'll edit a setup sheet and post it. Overall tho I'm completely stoked on how well my little cheap car ran against all the high end cars today. Think I'll be sticking with the spec-r for quite a while.
If anyone would like the setup before I have a chance to upload it just shoot me a pm

got buttonhead screws in my kits, but better to have flathead screws with a countersunk washer, and spacers between screw and motor/servomount
and use some threadlock on the screw to stop it from moving during crashes.
just sold my r1 car, great car but tried a mi5, and how much i have dialed my car in since last season the feeling in the mi5 was miles better for me

Well, I have taken the plunge and have been racing mod with the Spec-R, baby steps of course running a 7.5 to begin with a butt load of boost and turbo. So far, so good, have had some huge smashes with it cartwheeling down the main straight when i get it wrong and the only things that break are the outer hinge pins and or it pops out a tow block. Gotta love it when that huge crash costs you less than 50 cents in repairs
