If you want to talk about geometry...
The minimal spacing between the spur axle and the motor axle is 27mm. The maximal spacing is 30.5. So if we talk about 64dp (where teeth deep is about 1mm) you can suppose that if the sum of pinion radius and spur gear radius minus 2mm is in this interval, you can suppose the combination will fit.

My 50T pinion radius is about 10.31mm and my 104T spur gear radius is about 20.86mm -> 10.31+20.86-2 = 29.17. I just test it and it fits perfectly. Final ratio is 4.05 with that...

WOW thats great info, thanks guys.

One last thing for now. I beleive its also important to run the maximum pinion size for torque wise, what i mean is the following right?

53P with a 106S will give a ratio of 4.01

same as

50P with a 103S will give a ratio of a close (4.02)

Apart from torque as their anything different? i

What you are talking about has a very minimal effect on the performance of the car from a "torque" standpoint. In my personal opinion, bigger spur and pinion combos do is give you better tooth engagement and a more efficient gear combo. It will be quieter and last longer. Another thing it does is shift the motor slightly, which alters your weight distribution. Since the motor is a heavy component in the car, small changes in its position will have a surprisingly significant impact on weight distribution. Use it as a tuning aid .

I do not have a 106 spur but I'm quite sure that this combination won't fit...

104T/50T is about the limit...

Wow. Well I spent all day playing around with this bad boy and trying to get it setup. I am pretty damn close to getting this car dialed. I just need to get a little better touch up. But this car is pretty darn good on carpet. Car seems touchy on a few things but seems pretty good. Not to shabby.

Not sure about the SPec TCX ones, but ones that definately fit (other than HB DCJ) are Tamiya 44mm DCJ or Spec R for Tamiya 417 series will both fit.

I use Tamiya as I had them lying around from my old cars. They are very nice!!! (no grub screws to come loose!)

So anyone out there tried the solid chassis? I have the car right on the edge of speed and traction rolling. The car feels fairly consistent for the most part but would almost seem to benefit from a unison flex.

I run 17.5 blinky on carpet. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

HTH,

Leonard.
I bought the CSO mount and it does not fit on the hot bodies chassis. I was extremely disappointed. I emailed CSO but no response. My best guess is that it is going to be used on a cso chassis that has yet to be released.

Indeed there is something very strange on the CSO item, it seems to have three in-line holes on the bottom face and that's absolutely not what we have on the HB chassis...

Why do I need to use tamiya because the pin is thinner since the TCXX uses a thinner pin than TCX?

Yup!

New pins are only 2mm...
