Thanks ITG. Makes sense. The retainer is meant to be adjustable so the set screw must be anchored. Got it!

So I'm in the process of building my kit. I have read that 2 hours is the usual build time. It will probably take me at least twice that amount of time as I like to polish the hinge pins, pivot balls and ball studs to make sure everything moves freely. I also like to clean the bearings before installing them.

So far, I'm finding the build process relatively easy compared to a TC. I really like the cool shock design.

I have to admit that Part Bag numbering and identifying the correct screw size a bit challenging. The bags are labeled A-AA and B-BB but those letters don't seem to match up with the labels on the bags. I have one bag of screws with a label with numbers and letters that doesn't appear in the manual at all???

The other thing is the screws. They have what feels like a powder coated finish. I have built quite a few kits but I don't recall seeing screws like this before.

Overall, I'm enjoying building this kit and look forward to it's completion.

This will be my 1st. 1/12th scale car, what 64p spur should I get for 13.5 non boost track is 73x 42?

Any info on set-up and tires would be great.

Thanks guys,
I run a 78t spur, with pinions from 45 to 55, rollout from high 80's to low 90's
On that size track low to mid 80's should be more than enough

Some of the guys at IIC were rolling out in the mid 70's, so there really is a difference from motor to motor brand

Gearing will depend on motor, timing, and tire size

You can print a roll out chart at gearchart.com

Kit setup is a great base
Black Front, Yellow rear tires are very neutral to start with

Correct me if I'm wrong, so as I understand it the only thing they changed for the front end is how the lower arm mounts to the bulkhead. What did they change on the lower arm itself?

The 5.2 lower arm does not use an insert, so it is a different piece with a 3mm hole for the screw

So nothing in the geometry has changed, so it's not necessary to upgrade these pieces when converting from a 5.1 to 5.2.

Yes
I believe the updates were made to improve durability

Maybe ease of use (track width adjustment) also?
