I run an XRAY T2R Pro with a bunch of T2 and T3 parts on it (the suspension and belt drives/CVDs interchange from 008 to 2012 along with some parts from the original T2 from 2006 up). While XRAY cars and parts are expensive, the hardly ever break. When I ran Nitro touring car, I loved my Nitro TC3 but I broke every two to three weeks it seemed. The XRAY may break a part every two to three months. The main things you will need to have are the composite solid axle (front spool) drive shaft adaptors, front steering blocks, front C-hubs (helps to have both 4 & 6 C-hubs for setup caster adjustments), rear uprights (rear hubs in both 0 & 1 for rear toe adjustments) & bearings (I use Avvid bearings @ $1.00 each). That is all that ever breaks on my T2R Pro and usually after I have brain fade and hit a board really really hard.

If you want new and don't plan on running anything except VTA then then TC4 may be the way to go. If you plan on running 17.5 or 13.5 TC then go with either the Sakura Zero S or the XRAY T3R (belt drive is just that much more efficient). You will need a turn buckle set and steel front axles for the T3R in addition to the kit but the kit quality is top notch.
