Default Good motor to Boost class 17.5T

Looking for a good engine 17.5t.
I'm thinking of Dualsky Z5 17.5t
Is this a good choice?

Currently, I ride on Robitronic Platinum 17.5t and is not very fast.

Thank you in advance for your help and sorry for my english

The ESC and it's settings make far more of a difference than the motor choice in boosted classes.

I've used Speed Passion v3, Tekin redline, Trinity Duo2, Duo3 and ReVtech motors in boosted classes and they all worked quite well. None of them really stand out as being a lot faster than the rest.

Motor choice makes a big difference in blinky, but not nearly as much in boosted.

Post which ESC you have and it's current boost settings, as well as your FDR, endbell timing and the track size you race on.

How hot is your motor after a race?

Maybe someone can help you find the extra speed you are looking for without having to change motors.

Speedpassion V3 series motors (1 cell, MMM, regular all work well)
Trinity Duo3

As said, ESC and settings make a bigger difference, along with have a decent cooling fan blowing some SERIOUS air directly onto the motor.

My equipment is:
ESC: Tekin RS
Motor: Robitronic Platinum 17.5t
Battery: Life 30c (Do not use lipo)

I have these settings:
Ratio 4.6
Boost 27
Turbo 20 (max)
Start RPM 1750
These are my last set of fast track asphalt

The best driver on the track the engine uses GM 17.5T
I have a 30mm cooling fan, and after the run in a very hot day I had a temperature of about 76 degrees Celsius

Ciao Klapacz,
i'm not a tekin esc user, but according my experience with other esc (hobby wing, viper, team wave) the starting point of the turbo at 1750 rpm seem to low, usually i set it from 3000 to 4000 rpm, according track condition and layout.

Ciao

You should check out the tekin RS thread if you haven't already.

By final ratio if you mean FDR, that seems high unless your track is very big and fast. I was running 6.5 on a free flowing track with about a 70-80 ft straight. I would also lower the turbo, but increase the boost. Did you have any timming on the motor?

I ran a LRP 17.5 they take heat and you can gear them low and go real fast. Our club band boosted after I started running one last week!

My Sons Xray was set with a 4.9 fdr, prior to using the boosted software. After I put the boosted software into the esc the car was slower with around 48 degrees of total boost and turbo timing.
I changed the pinion from a 29 down to a 24 giving a 5.95 fdr and it was heaps faster. The other thing maybe your battery but I would try ratios first.

Our track has 80' straight and is twisty I had my geared 27/115 fdr of 715 the car was very fast. My temps were good for 95* degree track I had temps of 140*on my LRP motor with no fan. I too race a Xray.
I took the boost/timing out an re-geared 43/104 the car was very slow feeling in testing the next day and the temps went wild 200* but the track was 115*. I decided to stop testing and just try it friday night at the races and see what happens! No more 17.5 boosted unledd you want to run in open.

Hi! Can somebody helm with my brushless system? I use Reventon Pro with Team Epic D3.5 17.5T on my TC6 in a boosted class and I can`t choose optimal settings. I`m using final gear ratio 6.4. Help me please to set up my system for medium long tracks (40-60m). What I must to do? Mayebe I must change my gear ratio, or something else?

Motor heat is in range 80-95 degrees Celsius. Track temp around 30-40 degrees Celsius.
With regards!

+1 on checking out the www.teamtekin.com homepage for recommended esc setups. I've used the following on a large open asphalt track with a 120' straight. Recommend making adjustments to Boost, Turbo, and End RPM (possibly lowering Turbo and End RPM a few thousand) to meet your track conditions if using on a smaller track. Software: v223, FDR: 6.6, Endbell timing: 0*, Current limiter: 95, Throttle Prof: 3, Boost: 45, Turbo: 10, Turbo Delay: 0.16, Start RPM: 3095, End RPM: 17,993, Ramp rate: 2.0 Not familiar with your motor, but it should be able to run quickly. I preffer Murfdogg Synergy Motors, especially in boosted applications. Hope this helps get you close and periodically check temps (1-2 min) during your first test run trying new setups so you don't overheat your electronics.

Hi guys.

Sorry I am new to the racing world, I also want to get myself the right 17.5T motor from the start in this new class. I also race in 21.5T open stock.

Sorry if I am hi jacking this post. By rearing all this posts I still don't know what motor is good or even the best...LOL...

I do have a new Hobby Wing V3.1 that I will be using in this class.

Now I just need to know what motor to get.

I did have a look at the following motors.

Gen2 17.5 Tekin
X20 17.5 LRP
D3.5
MMM 17.5 Speed Pasion.

And reconmondations from all the guys that knows this class. I am running a Mi4LP with a internal ratio of 1.8.

Thanks guys.
