Big Congrats to Jilles, a well deserved victory on his home track. Awesome finish in the first main.

From IFMAR rules (italics added):

1.7.3 The final positions will be decided by a point system based on ten (10) points for the winner of each final on down to one (1) point for the tenth placed finisher in each separate final. The best two (2) out of three (3) finishes will count (the best out of two (2) if lower finals are run only two (2) times). In the event of a tied position, the driver with the single highest finishing position in either of the best two (2) finals that counted will be awarded the tie, in the event of a continuing tie, and then the laps and times from the highest finishing position will be compared. The driver with the fastest laps and time total will be awarded the tie. If still continuing, then times from the second best position will be compared.

So on this occasion, first tie break is highest finishing position. They both have a p1. Then go to fastest time from their highest finishing position. So Jilles had his P1 in a faster time than Hara had his P1 - by about 2 seconds. So Jilles wins.

That's how I read the IFMAR rules, assuming that's what was applied in this case.

Personally, I think we should count all three finals, and use quali as the tie-breaker. That's going to keep every finals series live until the third race.

It's also great to see Hara back to form in touring.
i believe WC is Hara.
JG got no 1 in final 1,no 2 in final 3.
AH got no 2 in final 1 no 1 in final 3.
So, they are the same in final 1 and 3.
In final 2, Hara got 4 , but JG in 10.
That's why i believe Hara is the new WC.

I bet when he started on that track decades ago, he wouldn't have guessed he would someday win a world championship there. That line move in leg 1 turned out to be brilliant. I commend the world's new champion. Well done Jilles Groskamp.

It is the best 2 out of 3, so you toss out one of the runs.... Now you back to your best two, they tied in position, thus it goes to a tie breaker.

That is why you will see a person with 2 wins in triple main format sit out one.

Indeed. And to Freddy Sudhoff for winning the E with times that would be 6th in the A

And Viljami Kutvonen for winning the G, also with A main times.

It's been that way since the triple main was invented and every single one of those drivers knew it and knew what they had to do to win. Groskamp's dive bomb pass at the line in A1 proved to be the winning move.

It's good to see guys like Jilles win, he's not a primadonna like many of the other racers. He's also probably the best mechanic and setup guy of all the pro racers.

Hara didn't deserve the TQ, and his terrible move on Ronald in A1 makes me glad he lost the way he did.
