Under different circumstances I might agree with you but this is not the first time IFMAR has had a totally screwed up event. Anyone remember the last 1/8th onroad worlds? That was a cluster of epic proportions. Somewhere hiding in the internet is a great article by Gene Hustings about the early days of IFMAR. There have been guns pulled before, and not by participants against the organizer but by the organizer himself. Anyone have a link to that article? I would love to read it again.
People like to complain about ROAR all the time but I have run many ROAR nats in a few different classes and while some have been better than others, none have been as problematic as the average IFMAR event.

LiveRC is not accurate. Go here, click on qualification under ranking list:

I have the full magazine article, and yes that was a flawed event but this is not the same. Ifmar has issues but please, let's not overblow what's happening now. Maybe the weather forcast isn't supposed to get much better, if that's happening what should they do then?

You are wrong, these were the actual fastest drivers by stats (most laps and fastest lap times in Q1-Q4), and not my personal preference or judgement. The guys that ran into issues did so because they missed 2 runs for whatever reasons and then couldnt catch up in Q6 because of changing conditions. Now if you cannot drive 3 fast runs in 4 qualifiers, maybe you don't belong in the A-main. Your 20% argument doenst make sense. 2 drivers in a field of 120 is less then 2% and not 20%
You need to go back and read your post I quoted again because I'm not wrong about what you wrote.
You said 1-2 guys refering to the A main which only has 10 drivers. 2 out of 10 is 20%. You said that, not me. You said "...too me it looks like the fastest guys are all in the A-main...". That is an opinion not facts.

No stop and go in 1/12 and now this? IFMAR you fail! People who run parking lot races could do a better job than you. This is a ONCE A YEAR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP event that R/C fans look forward to see. Your just ruining the hobby with these ridiculous rules and not enforcing clean driving. I know all of this can be tough to do, but come on. This is the super bowl of touring car r/c racing for crying out loud. Did you consider that weather might effect the tire rule? Nah. That tire rule would be ok if it was held indoors. But nah, you guys don't go on to think that far ahead do you. . Good luck IFMAR aka The WWE of R/C.

Weather effects the outcome of sporting events all over the planet. That's just the way life is when we play outdoors. Qualifying was shaping up for a pretty exciting conclusion yesterday before the rain....but that's weather.
With the forecast being that rain would arrive late in the day, those who held tyres until Q5 & Q6 were rolling the dice. The potential for reward was high, but the risk was high too. We can all read weather forecasts, look at radar....rain was always going to come.
Those that used their tyres in the first four rounds, got their clean runs in, get the reward. Those that risked, on this occasion, lost. And some got lucky in Q6, but that's motorsport.
A quick look at a best 2/4 scenario (ignoring Q6) shows that there are two who would have been in the A (Prumper & Harper in, Moore and Jasmin out), so bad luck for those two that Q5 stands - but Moore and Jasmin who are in the A are hardly a loss of quality.
Personally, I'm looking forward to some great racing in the finals tonight. 3 A finals, plenty of talent, some brave strategy decisions (which will be high risk...again) and I doubt the outcome will be known until late.
I reckon Volker will take A1 (he's been quick on new rubber), but then Groskamp, Wilk, Hara have been handy on used tyres. And if I were Wilk, Matsukura, Krapp, I reckon the temptation to risk big and sit out A1 will be very strong. I'll be glued to liverc tonight to see it all unfold.
In terms of control tyre rules, personally I think no goop is fantastic, and the tech issues yesterday were at least in part to do with the difficulty of teching that rule. I was thinking that I'd prefer they had new tyres ever run until Groskamp pointed out that also means they'd need to practice on new tyres every run - not just in official practice this week but in all the leadup. So the cost difference is not just an additional 4 sets of tyres....it's probably a tripling or more in the total tyre bill.
Sure some glitches, but weather can't be helped and we still get to watch a fascinating race today. And the guy that wins will absolutely deserve to be considered the world's best.

The complaints from the IFMAR officials? Why aren't the racers grouped by nationality?
Scotty or Boylan's crews do a much better job, with WAY more racers.
IFMAR do a great job running the off-road worlds though.

just before the start of heat 14 it started to rain again. heat 13 was almost dry. Hara did 17 laps in heat 13, Paul Lemieux 14 laps in heat 14. let's see what's gonna happen now... almost everyone from heat 14 drove to the pit after some laps.
