You are wrong, these were the actual fastest drivers by stats (most laps and fastest lap times in Q1-Q4), and not my personal preference or judgement. The guys that ran into issues did so because they missed 2 runs for whatever reasons and then couldnt catch up in Q6 because of changing conditions. Now if you cannot drive 3 fast runs in 4 qualifiers, maybe you don't belong in the A-main. Your 20% argument doenst make sense. 2 drivers in a field of 120 is less then 2% and not 20%

couldn't disagree more, while everyone needs to be patient with the with the local guys that run your local club and the countless hours they volunteer week to week on the track and off . . . when you have a governing body running a WORLDS EVENT things need to be smooth, from the first round tire tech issue to the call about Q5 and Q6, to the tire limit rule doesn't look like things were thought out to well in this case. You can't have the refs at the super bowl change the rules during the game . . .

Most of the people I know buy max tire sets at every big race if you want to be competitive. Many or most of the drivers at this race have sponsors picking up the tab on tires, so it is not like you would be screwing people over. yes, there are locals and the Dirla's of the world that are mostly paying their own way, but for the most part teams pay.

There are no homeless people running the IFMAR Worlds...let's stop pretending like these drivers are ripping food out of the mouths of children and realize that to be the worlds best costs lots of money. I really want to see who the best is in the world, and until they get rid of these stupid rules we may never know.

RC is not big enough to try and create drama...you are not going to increase ratings...or bring in big sponsor money when stuff like this occurs. All you do is muddy the water and make it even less appealing to the general public.

There are so many nay Sayers already on organizing and sanctioning bodies, that all this does is fuel the fire. I don't think anyone (other then the top drivers who are required to go) is ready to book their ticket to the next worlds based on the outcome here.

Make simple rules...enforce them...and watch the sport grow.

+1
There's absolutely no way I could swing a $5,000.00 trip to go and race my 1/10 scale electric car in Holland. I have to give tons of Kudos to Robert Dirla for not only being able to swing this kind of expensive trip to Holland (with his own wallet) but also do all the online promoting, picture taking, posting, news updates, etc. etc. etc. My hat's off to you Dirla. P.S. any luck in getting permission from Mr. Hudy to take some pics of Paul's Xray?

Maybe I was stuck in a huge weed daze when I posted... sorry.

I am shocked to not hear about some aggressive driving stop and goes. Makes u wonder if the small RC $$ are driving the decisions.

Under different circumstances I might agree with you but this is not the first time IFMAR has had a totally screwed up event. Anyone remember the last 1/8th onroad worlds? That was a cluster of epic proportions. Somewhere hiding in the internet is a great article by Gene Hustings about the early days of IFMAR. There have been guns pulled before, and not by participants against the organizer but by the organizer himself. Anyone have a link to that article? I would love to read it again.

People like to complain about ROAR all the time but I have run many ROAR nats in a few different classes and while some have been better than others, none have been as problematic as the average IFMAR event.

You're forgetting the part where tech didn't even know we were running blinky.

On another note, why did IFMAR ever think running qualifiers on a wet track was a good idea? Track conditions change so much that it is only fair if ALL racers competing for something are on the track at the same time. This works for mains since you are only competing against the other drivers on the track at that time so the track is the same for everyone and thus fair. In qualifying, you are also competing against ALL the other drivers in ALL the other heats, spread out over a few hours. Conditions will NEVER be the same for all of them.

IFMAR seems to understand this perfectly for 1/8th as the rules specifically say the track must be dry for ALL qualifiers, only mains can be run in the wet. Whose bright idea was it to allow wet qualifiers for TC?
