I believe it depends on alot.
If they are only factory drivers probably only parts support and 60K.
If they are Factory drivers and are Team Captian than about 80K
If they are team captian and R&D (hint hint) Masami, Hara bla bla bla....who knows probably 100K. The Japanees pobably make more as they are like ROCK Stars over there...
Next time out at a BIG race just go up and ask Masami or Hara just exactly how much they make....proably one milllllllllion Dollars. LOL

Unless one of them have come up to someone and spilled the beans on what they make, it's an unanswerable question... I highly doubt that the one's who post here will tell what they make either....

Like it was said before, this is a hobby... There's no big money in it... You're not going to make a living unless you're in the right place at the right time.... Even then, there are more people who win the lottery than get paid to play with toy cars.... You want to get money to play with toys, become a salesperson for one of the big companies... Or get your engineering degree, get some financial backing and start your own company....

a good buddy mine was a team driver, basically was an oval guy but raced anything, He didn't make crap and he was a national champion, said all he did was sit around and wind motors. He quit a couple years later hasn't touched an RC since.

I'll take my degrees and running my own business . Keeps this a hobby.

I think those numbers are VERY VERY generous...

My guess -- Factory guys - Parts, some expenses, winner bonuses (200-500 dollars)

Factory guys that also work at the factory - $30-40K plus the above.

Top 10 in the world - Maybe $60-80K???

Ernie P. - Worth millions--because he sells most his stuff to bashers--bashers support this hobby--it's a fact.

Yeah - I think you'll find that if you don't have a particular "business or technical" skill, then you'll be working in the warehouse or answering phones. In the end, it makes more sense to get as much education as you can and race on the weekends...because we all need something to do when our reflexes are shot at 40...(Yes--even Hara will get older).

The guy in racing that is doing it right is Mike Lufaso.

heck ya fast and smart Mike L is a pleasure to watch race and his website is a staple for associated racers. Some of his tips will work on most cars.

I agree with mcollins a education is the best way to go. If i remember right Associated has been looking for a engineer for months now.
Take a look around on this site and see all the companies started by racers and are now getting huge. Case in point BMI Racing started off as a machining company got into racing and started making cf chasses and now he can't hardly keep up with the demand
