Rob no I understand but my new setup feels like I need to drive very smooth and if I can get away with out drag and pick up speed so be it. I have every intent on trying different things....

Nolan...I said I didn't use drag brake....cuz thats what you asked. I do use brake when necessary. Two places on the track where I use it regularly.

Yeah I'm gonna pull it out in both my cars and give it a whirl. I guess I will just have to bring my hotwire just in case.

Btw I fixed your statement.

He's scared of asphalt. He doesn't understand its general properties to run it. So instead of hanging out and having a good time where humidity doesn't matter for more than 12 minutes at a time he will stay in the Colorado area.

Crazy, I know. My travel budget is reserved for carpet races since that's what I practice every week. IIC and Snowbirds each year burns though a lot of money and vacation time.

I lived in KC long enough to know exactly what Midwestern summers are like in August.

Does anyone set drag brake on the TX rather than the ESC?

It seems to be a major point for TX drag brake is on-the-fly adjustments?

I personally have a problem with on the fly stuff. I know that if I am really focused on driving and I start to play with something I lose it and start making a lot of mistakes. I would rather set it and forget it and just focus on hitting my marks.

I have a 4pk and have neutral break setup on the top switch. I can turn it on or off, even adjust the strength, but never on the fly. Typically I do a few hot laps to warm up before a heat, see what is needed, and adjust. Run a few more laps and decided from there how much to run. There are times on the same layout where I don't need any drag, other times where it really helps.

I do find that having too much break really upsets the rear traction though so I have to be careful with how much I am adding. There is a fine line and the ass-end of the car will come around too quickly.

Just wait for the straightaway. Running 17.5 on that big track you have, what, 45 seconds to make a change?

it's just preference. Indoors I run roughly between 20-50% drag brake depending on traction, I think that's the more important thing to understand. My general rule is "as traction comes up, so doesn't my drag brake". If you run too high of DB on a slippery track you will be locking up the tires and sliding everywhere.

I have gone all the way up to 65% DB before on a high bite, large, fast track. It felt like 25% on a small tight track....if that makes sense..
