you can take the full plastic spool and throw it as far as you can :-)
but the alloy spool BD-501SAA is pretty good

So far.. my plastic spool... last about 2 practice on the drive way.
if you like to air hop.. land the car while in full power... I would get the steel or alum spool!

The outdrive portion of my plastic spool twisted right off and I didn't launch...I just had a wheel go up up on a curb. Broke two plastic spools. Neither of them lasted for one battery pack

Which pin?? I'm also driving a spool and a 4.5r, I've broken 1 pin that connects the axle with the dogbone.
I was told here that I was prolly using to much steering lock, changed it and the problem was gone...

Btw, a spool and blades??? most guys I see using that combo run Xray and they need to change blades every 2 batteries!!
There's better spools available, look a few pages back, there were a few posts of it!

iam using original aluminium oneway, glued it together and cut it wide so the xray blade fit in...

In the UK outside on asphalt.

if i got the BD:

whats spares are needed

Yep, a little bit too much epa.
Since I started driving a spool, I also had a problem with the pins not locking enough with the setscrew (and it was fastened hard). solved the problem with putting a ring of shrink wrap over the axle ;-)

I've been running mod with the BD for 2 years now and I'm extremely happy with it. Runs easy, not too much problems, quality material and its been here for a few years without too much changes and still its very competitive.

Spares, the usual, some whishbones, steering blocks, C- hubs, diff outputs (->they say).
Hopups, some springs
Tuning options??? erm??? I run a TIR spool.
I did made a small carbon plate that connects the top of the bumper with the front bulkhead in case of a serious crash, prevents the chassis from breaking in the front.

Maybe someone else has some more ideas??

hi guys
I'm just wondering if any of you guys removed the plastic battery holders from the chasis if so what kind of effect you notice also I've got blue yokomo aluminum front drive shafts in a retail pack and I'm usually using front ball diff. does it give me any advantage to use aluminum drive shafts instead of standard steel ones???
Many thanx in advance
