haha, yeah, we'll just say you won 50 large

Still a $45 payout is better than 99% of races here.

Here's something nice for those of you waiting for a spool. A Yokomo made spool for the BD made of a composite construction with aluminum outdrive saver rings. No word on pricing or availability yet, I'll try to find out tomorrow.

That front spool is tricked out... thanks for posting the pic Matt . Hopefully the locked center comes in before Reedy too... or most of us will end up doing what Randy did... (Randy, need your help on the 'JB Weld' just in case... )

Not much to the JB weld, you have the steel and you have the hardener, mix em up, put em on and let the parts cure. Just dont ever expect to be able to get those pieces apart after it dries

composite and aluminum spool....
wouldn't Speedtech's lightened steel spool be more durable?

I'd say Speedtech's spool will definately be more durable, but I also know Yokomo wouldnt have chosen those materials if they werent durable enough for the job.

Hi Guys,

The spools are going to be milled out of steel, and we have lightened the spool to about 14-15 grams (which is again lighter than the one-way unit I believe)

The yokomo team specifically requested the spools to be made out of steel and NOT aluminum. Masami and Billy Easton discovered at the IFMAR worlds last year that the weight of the steel spool actually helped their car carry more momentum and corner speed into the turns. They tried lighter spool (composite and aluminum) and it just didn't work as good. They also tried the blade setup and the blades were snagging in the outdrives and also weren't that durable. So once again for the BD Masami (Billy is no longer with the team) is requesting a steel spool with weight no less than 14-15 grams.

You see... all you have to do to win a Yokomo debate is say "Masami"!
