I just bought my second BD(sold my other one a while back), took it apart and currently rebuilding it.
Is this car even worth putting money into for racing?
I just spent $200 on Bomber belts, Suzuki steering hubs, battery strap and bearings. Plus parts are only availble in japan...

And do any people still Race this chassis?

I used my old BD for drifting so i was never worried about parts. Now that im into TC, parts are a pain to get and shipping is a lot of $$$
With the money that ive already spent on it, i can buy a BD5!!

haha agreed
The car is pretty much done. So I guess I can look at it as if I bought a "referb" BD

Anyways, What's the Basic set-up for runnin on a asphalt track?
Shock oil? Springs? Shock position? Camber? Toe? Ride Height?
Thanks!

Check out the Yokomo Japan website, there are a few setups on there My Dad races my old Yokomo BD and i drive it sometimes. On our track i went faster in it than in my Xray T3 in 10.5 And my T3 is handling very well now as i was almost 1 sec faster than anyone else on track comparing fastest laps. The car is still able to compete competitively for sure The BD5 is a great car aswell. We own all 3

wow, can't believe someone else revived this thread.

i bought one a few months back, expecting a local indoor carpet track to open. i went on a blitz looking for info on the car and got a lot of stuff written down/memorized.

if you need help with anything, this thread can steer you in the right direction.

and yes, it's still a potent car

After several years away from touring car, I have decided to try it out again.

I have an MR4TC-BD. I had only driven it twice then walked away from TC.

My questions to you guys are:

How is the BD for LiPo fitment?

With virtually no parts availability, what parts from other cars are working?

What is a good base setup for rubber tire with a some what bumpy track on carpet?

I am in need of several equipment upgrades, so I am hoping to get away with bringing this old car to life.

Just to show how out of date my gear is, I dont own any Lipos, I dont own a brushless motor and speedo , and I will probably need a new charger also.

Any tips to keep this car alive for as long as possible?

I also still have an MR4TC SD SSG and a Black Carbon SD sitting around the garage.

Thanks.

outtafocus,

I also own MR4TC BD, and have all SD version and even a very old MR4TC Pro (the one released in year 2000) - fans of Yokomo.

I run my BD with Lipo - using Team Orion 3600mah 30c and IP 3600mah 35c. The battery sit well on the battery slot. However, due to the clearance of the upper deck and rear gear box alloy mount, you might not be able to go further, eg, 4000/5000mah Lipo might not fit unless you add shim to raise the upper deck a bit.

I am running in hot weather (Singapore) so I think my setup won't help much.

Part support is problem here too, I saw other people using HPI Cyclone arms/hubs on BD but I have not tried it personally.

Hope this helps.
Enjoy racing.

Does anyone know a reliable source of spares for them as it's almost impossible to find spares in the UK, so importing is no issue for me.

I love my bd and i really don't want to change make.

I use a checkpoint 5000 in mine. had to file the rear bulkhead and the small center deck brace. run carpet/foam with it, works great

Thanks for the battery info.

As I said I will be running rubber tire on carpet. When I bought the BD it came with a 3mm chassis and the stock 2.5mm(?) chassis. It also came with a 3mm top plate and the stock top plate.

Should I run the stock chassis and stock top plate?

Any one have a good starting setup?
Thanks
