would this car still be competitive (in the right hands, of course) in the 17.5 class?

i;m thinking of buying a bd with spare parts from the classifieds. he's got a ton of spares, for $220 shipped.

worth it?

Yes it is very competive in 17.5, the BD is still a great car. I had been running mine for the last 2 yrs until I got my 416 a few months ago. I use it for VTA now, you can't go wrong with it.

Someone at my track has the Andy Moore Cyclone Tc, so I have driven one. But like I said I had been running my Bd for the last two years with much success. With any car it's all about setup, and the ability to drive what you have. I have seen cheaper plastic chassis cars spank a high $ car many times, so it's all up to you to make the decision which one to get. They are both good cars.

thanks, skills.

i'm also curious as to availability of parts, as well. yokomo has poor parts service over here... and it can't get any better for the BD, now that the bd5 is out

There is one guy at my track who has the BD5. He spanked us on the track yesterday, if you have anymore questions about the Bd you can ask him. On here his name is JimmyMac, you can find him on the BD5 thread. It's a nice car, most of the parts are the same as the Bd. Yokomo is suppose to have a distributor coming to the USA soon.

You made a good choice. Just find a good setup for the track that you are running on and you will be fast.

@ Atlas:
there are tons of setups for the car on carpet all over the place. Obviously, they are a little hard to find now that the BD-5 is out... but lucky for you, i've read through all 596 pages of this thread and have collected all the data from the past 4 years lol

look up a dude (germany) named Martin Hofer. Here's his blog. Yokomo driver. He posts in the BD-5 thread as well. He's got tons of info for the bd/bdm. who knows if he's willing to share (he used to be ALL OVER this thread with VERY useful info)

Martin Hofer Blog

there's a tiny link on the bottom that says 'older posts'. that will keep directing you back a few pages to check out his BDM hybrid car.

if you need more info, just PM me.
