battery to run a charger

hey could anyone tell me what kinda gell cell or stuff like that works well

im looking for something small and could be found easily at a bike store or karigian or something

A marine/deep cell battery would probably be your best bet if you feel like hauling a 50 pound block with you. Any 'small' ATV/mower/cycle battery probably would probably run dead sooner than planned or at least start losing major voltage when its loaded down to the point where your charger(s) might shut off or error.

Do yourself a favor and get a power supply. :D

Something like this is a good option ..

Any 12v 30+ AH AGM style battery will do the trick. You can get AGM (gell) batteries form lawn mower sized all the way up to RV size.

Don't buy a wet sell lawnmower/motorcycle battery. They do not handle cycling well at all, are a mess to deal with, and overall are crappy batteries.

Unless you live out in the woods there is probably a battery store near you. Go there.

I haul the 50lb block around. It's only marginally heavier than my tool boxes anyway, and it provides plenty of juice for a full day of racing. Hurricane Ivan crushed my girl's car, so I had it laying around. Optima makes a nice 12v dry cell battery for automotive applications, it should work great. I too am far from outlets when trackside, so a power supply is not an option.

whats the smallest batteries out there that can last around 3-5 charges? on a ice charger

R40Victim 02-19-2005 12:08 PM

A typical compact car battery should be fine, they aren't expensive or all that big. 9 times out of 10 they come with a large handle, basically another tool box, no biggy... They have a pretty good variety at walmart, or any automotive shop...
