Korey - you really should learn not to agree with STLNLST on anything. It's a slippery slope. It will be a matter of time before you show up to the track in a dress.
Sorry - my fingers aren't calibrated enough to differentiate a progressive spring from a linear one, and I don't know what a progressive spring is supposed to feel like on the track. What matters is if the spring works - then it really doesn't matter if it's progressive or linear - unless you are an engineer and you need to know why.
I do know that if you hand a Hara spring over to any engineer - they willl tell you that it's linear. And I bet that if I ever get a change to measure it - they will measure linear.

Its funny how you say you know that yet you havnt measured nor handed it to an ME, but yet you still know it as if you already did. Kinda breaking your own argument when you simply could have replaced that funky statement with "i am 100% sure they are linear."
Oh to sit as a neutral party and witness the amazingness that is internet forum posting.

Hey,
New to the forum.
I currently have a Pro4 and am looking to get a belt car. Are parts still compatible from the older pro4 to a newer cycone (CF race version). It would be nice to be able to use what i have.
Also, have anyone here driven both cars and can say how they compare?
Thanks,
Tom

Yes,the Older versions of the Cyclone use the same Arms,C-hubs,Knuckles,bearings,and toe blocks. The cars drive similar, but the cyclone feels more refined.I would say, pull trigger on a getting a cyclone. You wont regret it.

Thanks for the info. I love my pro4, so i bet i would like a cyclone too.

Compared to the cyclone the pro 4 pushes in corners, which is typical of shaft drive cars. I found that if you are a good driver then the pro 4 can be fast in the spec classes. But generally speaking the handling of the Cyclone is far superior to the Pro 4 (which is also pretty typical of shaft vs belt).
Been a while since i drove my pro 4 though....

Not sure if this helps you or not, in any event it is a great item to keep in your pit box. See attached.

See.....this type of info will only help you in the rcgt class. No wonder you're not going to win this year You call it failure........I say it's a life experience.
I'cant tell you what exactly LBS. right now since I don't have the chart on hand but I can tell you the HPI Pink is about 18 LBS. and the HPI Blue is about 16 LBS. If you asking about the Hara's, they are totally different things. They start at about 17 LBS down to 13 LBS, but when you try to compress it by your fingers (someone said not suppose to) you will notice it start soft at the beginning and getting stiffer. Compare to HPI's, you could fully compress the Springs all the way. So, you need to try it and see which one is good for.

Not trying to step on your toes Ling, but I will agree that the construction of the spring itself is "linear"... The springs still feel as if they are "progressive" on the track. Even Hara himself says that. They are similar to the Xray springs which are just rated with a spring constant rather than a spring rate.

I believe he still has more wins than you...heck, Kathy has more wins than you. In fact, she has more wins in the last 3 races than you have in your sedan career! FAILURE!

Measured 14.29, 14.27 - average of 14.28
6543 Silver 302 g/mm, 16.91 lb/in
Measured 16.34, 16.07, average of 16.21
6544 Gold 340 g/mm, 19.04 lb/in
Measured 17.38, 17.60 - average of 17.49
6545 White 363 g/mm, 20.33 lb/in
Measured 20.35, 19.33 - average of 19.84
6546 Yellow 388 g/mm, 21.73 lb/in
Measured 20.27, 20.77 -average of 20.52
6547 Red 400 g/mm, 22.40 lb/in
Measured 20.61, 20.60 - avearge of 20.61
6548 Pink 320 g/mm, 17.92 lb/in
Measured 16.60, 16.88 - average of 16.74
to get from g/mm to lb/in - just multiply by 0.056
Thanks to James Arluck for donating his new HPI spring set to get measured. The measured values do differ from the published values - which is absolutley normal. Also interesting to note that the HPI Yellow and Red practically overlap in values.
The HPI springs are indeed linear. I have the entire force/displacement curves to prove it.
Are you going to borrow money from Tina to buy Korey a soda?
