If you run a spool then the v3 spool is the best one around, the one-piece aluminium ones wear pretty quickly.
It might be the ball on the end is a different size (the bit with the pin through it that fits into the drive cups). Thats the difference between the v2 unis and the standard ones, or perhaps it could be the fronts unis are thicker to take more shock from a spool or oneway???? But only guessing

Here's my stetup from last Friday's club race. Car was 3 tenths quicker with lilac fronts but was a little harder to drive.
Hope this helps.

I have the ver 3 spool up front & the derlin diff at the back.
and i have the mip purple cvd's that come with the WCE edition.
everything fits sort of.....
the only thing that bugs me is i have to take on and off the plastic ring on the derlin outdrives to get the dog bone in and out,
is this normal?
as to get them on and off on the car is a real pain in the.......

On the pro 4 it was never that hard to get those rings off, mine are usually mangled on the cyclone.
If you are really lucky you can pull the wheels and hex hubs off and slide out the uni and at the right angle i think you can get then take the uni out without taking the ring off. But thats quite a pain to do as well.
From a performance perspective the aluminium outdrives should be better but the blades are expensive. Just make sure you change the blades aka. the plastic C thingys aka. i think HB refer to them as diff adapters (or reverse them) before they wear out. Once you get wear on the aluminium outdrives the blades wear out faster (and unfortunately they are not cheap and sometimes very hard to get).
XRay blades will apparently fit as well if you are looking for something.

on my old losi xxx-s one way it had a piece of paper with instructions that came with it, and it said to slightly grind down or file the pins on the dogbone so that it would fit in the outdrive expansion rings with out needing to be put on an angle.
I was concidering doing this and making sure i only take off a very small amount.
I had the alum diff halfs (outdrives) but they weared out very fast i thought.
i even had 2 sets and ran one with greese and one with out, but they both weared very fast, another racer at my track reckons that the derlin outdrives last heaps longer, so i am going to give that a go.

Are you sure you put the little plastic blades on the universals so that the metal on the universals wasnt rubbing on the aluminium outdrives?

yeah i did put them on, lol
It is possible to get the driveshafts out of the delrin diff without taking the rings off. You just have to compress the suspension fully with the driveshaft pin pointing vertical. I never had to take the rings off except to get the bearings off the outdrives!
