Korey, could you tell me if cutting the top plate would be a benefit on a carpet track with medium to high grip using Jaco blues all around ? I'm running 17.5 . I'm also running the lipo top deck.
Thanks.

A picture with your post, when trouble shooting, will probably get more rctech help than without...

That's great to hear you had good result with the mod. I still recommend to start with the stock one every time you go to find good setup. Stock 42.0mm is still the best width to start with.

Jag88-

I'm a little different than some of the people on the team. Some like a tick more flex in high grip conditions to smooth out the car, but I feel it makes the car become unresponsive to setup changes when the grip is really high. I generally run a full upper deck, and mid deck.... sometimes with ATC posts. It just makes the car a little more responsive to setup changes, and I got better corner speed through the middle of the corner like that.

But... everyone is different . So I would get a spare upper deck and cut it to try out. They only take a few seconds to change out. It would be a really easy back to back comparison.

Hi,

I'm looking for a 17.5T motor for use on a large, outdoor, high grip, asphalt track. I want to gear it for high speed in the straight. I have an SPX (profile 7). Anyone have any comments on the following ??
  • Novak Ballistic Spec Brushless Motor 17.5T
  • Team Checkpoint 17.5T Brushless Spec Motor
  • Trinity Nemesis Spec Brushless Motor 17.5T
  • Team Epic Duo 2 Spec Brushless Motor 17.5T

Thanks in advance

Default vintage setup

Hi everyone, I got an early present and am trying to set it up. It's a used Cyclone S, front diff, direct drive center, rear diff. the center pulleys are different sizes (16 & 18). When Igot it the 18/39 rear and 16/39 front so understeer was bad. I've since flipped it so the front is overdriven 2.1 ratio the rear is stock 2.4375. by the way iI used a 171 tooth Shumacher belt to make this work. But I'm unsure on the chassis setup right now I have 5mm ride height and 2mm droop, hpi vintage tires and a Pegassus 70' big fish body (71 Hemi Cuda). The local track is extremely smooth ozite with a sixty foot back straight. I'm used to 1/12 Tplate cars so not sure what to adjust to do what.
SETUP
0* front toe
3* rear toe
27t motor
27 pinion
110 spur
0 ackerman
no stabilizers front or rear

right now it still pushs through any corners
