Pookyt,

your best bet is to call them!!!!!
granted, they don't have the best "updated" website in the sport, they DO have some of the best $$ on the west coast, let alone one of the largest inventories (of the "good" stuff) for the Racer.....

call them I saw 4 of them in their showcase on Saturday.......

No, it's not the same.

Top 3 positions at the TITC in the modified class used the Team Orion Advantage charger.

Atsushi Hara, Surikarn, Marc Rheinard and Andrew Moore were all happy by the performances of the charger.

The Team Orion Advantage allow you to run-in the motor as well.
The max Amp is 10 amp. You can run-in a 6 turn motor.

As the max instant Amp draw is 10 amp, if your motor use more than 10 amps, reduce volts on the charger and reduce timing on the motor.
For example, you can easy run-in a 6 turn motor at 2V with 0 timing.

You can delay the charge (Auto start) in Linear and Megaflex mode up to 99 minutes.

Do you have this charger? How do you like it and how much did it cost?

pareng red neck racer,

the run-in feature will allow you to run a motor through the charger.....its not like a dyno. a dyno measures the capabilities of the motor.....

with a run-in feature, you can run a lathe or break-in a motor....

common in the phils. with a run-in feature is the lrp pulsar competition grade chargers......

the lrp however crudely measures the performance of the motor since it can gauge the amp draw of the motor while you are breaking in the motor

It allows you to run-in the motor (when you put new brushes for example).

With one unit, you can :
- charge your batteries,
- discharge your batteries
- use it as a break-in machine for your motor
- use it for powering your comm lathe
- use it for powering your tire warmer (7.2V for maximum 60minutes allow you to warm your tires at around 45)
- use it as a stopwatch
....

Of course, you can do more tricks on your motor with a MPM (Team Orion Motor tester).

But when you don't have too much money to spend on a charger and a motor tester, this unit is what you need.

For the users of Dead-Short or if you leave your battery on the tray overnight, the voltage of your battery will be very low. With the charger you have a protection, so the charger will firstly charge at 0.1 till 5V during 3minutes.
It will allow your battery to recover the normal voltage above 5V. Then after 3 minutes, the charger will tell you "Check"
Your battery has now reach voltage above 5 volts.
Now you can start the charge as usual (but if you use step-charging, do not response yes at the question "discharge before use ?")

Procedure when using battery that have been dead short or leave overnight on a battery tray :
- Charge as usual (the screen will show 0.1A and 5V) for 3 minutes
- After 3 minutes, The charger will tell "Check"
- Now your battery has reach voltage over 5V
- Now your battery is ready to be charge Linear, Megaflex or Step

Salut Jean-Marc

Good to see you here too... And glad to see the Advantage finally reached Switzerland

Couple of quick Q's:
-What's the max amp draw it can sustain (just wanna check I can power my lathe, especially at initial spool-up)?
- Why does the cell-master not figure the run-in feature, whereas the Orion does?

Thanks!

See you saturday at the Peak race

Cheers,
Paul F.

Hello Paul,

- Max amp draw is 10 amps. The basic set-up i use to powered a lathe is 3-4 volt max. So you have enough amp as i don't think you use a 6 turn to powered your lathe. The initial spool up is smooth as well.

- Of course because it's not the same.

See ya!
