Well I my advantage smoked a bit when it was new, rather than send it in I opened the case to find that the smoke I was seeing was heat paste burn off from a sloppy application. After I cleaned up the spilled paste no more smoke and everything works great.

It's alright, I reinstalled the smoke tonight and everything's fine Seriously though, the charger still charges, runs motors, and discharges so I don't know what, if anything, happened. I just took it apart and I didn't see any component that looked burned up or other wise damaged and it still seems to work fine so I'll just leave it be for now.

So what is the concensus on the charger now...

Are people still finding it smokes during motor run-in? It seems like a nice charger with nice features....but hoping they fix or have fixed the motor break-in problems.

Just wondering since I'm thinking of picking one up.

I got mine last night and put a step charge on an old pack, works good so far. Haven't done the motor break-in yet though, so we'll see. One question: What is the cut off on discharge? I couldn't find it anyway in the manual. BTW, the manual is no good!

You mean 5.4v for 6-cell? I don't think it can do individual down to .9v with only 2 leads.

Dom- he means the discharge is set for .9v per cell. when you tell it is a 6 cell pack it cuts off at 5.4, this is the same as the delta peak 3mv per cell then multiply by # cells.

Chad

Ya what he said.

yeah I get it.... I always think that discharging a pack as a whole, one cell might drop down pass .9, some might be a 1.1, just because the overall voltage is still 5.4, I'm starting to get this whole battery charging deal!
