Trimming the edges, Slots, holes, serrations..ect...... can bring out several different motor charataristics...trimming the brush edge is commonly done to trick a motor into more timing.......and (one) of the reasons that slots , holes and serrations are used, is because they are thought to increase power by flowing more current due to the increase in edges that electricity can travel from...IMO some methods work well, and some don't, It's mostly trial and error.. and It can be different on every type of motor...for example: what a #42 hole might achieve on a reedy quadmagnet 19 turn , may have a complete different undesirable effect on a reedy 8 turn.......If you do a search you should find all of the "specifics" of it.....(like whats common practice on what motor, and how it affects it).......if this site's search feature dosn't turn up enough for you.......try big jims motor forum........www.rccars.com then click on his forum..it's all there and then some
