quick question? Can radio transmitters be carried onto the plane or do they have to be checked?

Donīt bring them on the plane. i understand some of the finnish guys have there radio torn apart for the Snowbirds as it looks as a "electrical gun" on the Xray.

pack it in your case last year i tried to carry on my radio, when they took it out of my carry on they tested the unit, because i use it with nitro onroad the found traces of nitro on the grip and there machine went balistic, after letting them know what it was from they let me check the unit, big headache not worth the risk

Transmitter should be perfectly safe to carry on - in fact I would recommend it (anyone ever watch the baggage handlers?) The fact remains that a R/C transmitter doesn't appear to be dangerous to the x-ray scanners.

I have carried mine on many times in the last couple of years and have yet to have an issue - it simply goes through the scanner and thats it. If they need to look at it, just make sure you have all of the screws!

good times

TCR- I have tested with both the Stratus 3.0 AP and the Mazda 6 on carpet and with rubber tires, Both seem to work just fine. So don't worry if your car is dailed the body should not be a problem.

i know when we went to CA for the TCS last August, we carried them on, and they just suggested that there be no batteries or crystals in it... no problems then.

Not that it matters to me since I'm driving, what about the guys that have DSM? You say they told you no crystals or batteries, well since DSM does not run any, I wonder what issues they may have with that.

I think their issue is with a "remote controller" as in something that can remotely control a WMD. So no batteries, no transmitter module, no worries.

Speaking of which, there isn't going to be an impound at the race is there?

Jon, at Scotty's races, typically there is no impound, unless absolutely necessary. although, the rule is, if your radio is on in the pits, you WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE!!! according to Scotty, anyway! he goes by the "common sense" rules, usually.

those of you who havent been at one of Scotty's races are in for a treat!!!!

Thanks. I've been to the last 3 Reedy Races so I've got a good idea about how well Scotty runs races. Just wasn't sure if the no impound was a Scotty thing or a Reedy Race thing.
