Hmm, any experience with gearing on an indoor track? Mine was getting HOT at 4.0 with 18deg timing.

4.0 seems really tall for indoor.

Dieter was at 4.1 on a 225 foot straight.

Maybe try 4.6 range and then you should be able to run more timing.

The reading I get off the can is in the normal range, but man, if you take a reading from inside one of those holes in the rear of the can, watch out!

Are you guys running a fan on your motor? I run mine at TQ raceway, geared at 3.7. after 6 min, I'm up in the 150s. I could maybe gear down to 3.8 since I was pulling people down the straight.

Fellas, I have a Trinity D3.5 17.5T that I run in Blinky Sedan. I have been running it at +10 on the timing. It has run great and never over 174 degrees. I have run it in 3 races weekends, so 10 actual races and 2 practices. It started acting up last weekend and I thought it was my ESC, so I put another one on it and it still acts up. It will run for a couple seconds and then the ESC starts flashing saying the motor is bad. It makes a pretty bad sound when it does run. The bearings still feel smooth and there is no end play and no slop.

I took it apart and cleaned it and re lubed the bearings and put it back together. Still does the same thing. Are there any known problems with this motor, or was I the lucky one to have one of those odd ball things happen to it.

It happened on me b4 once the motor see the load and it will cut out the timing and it made a noise sound like gear mesh is off. I sent it back and Jim change the hall sensor and it runs fine now. If you have a spare sensor give it a try may take care of it.

Next batch of 13.5, 10.5 and the all new 21.5's will be in next week at Trinity. They also have a 25.5 motor coming out in a few weeks for tracks that allow any 25.5 in VTA.
