If you guys really want to know that bad here are some emails for you since NONE of these guys will be on this board except maybe Dieter once a year.

Maybe they will answer your question since those are the only 3 people on the planet that know the true answer.

My comment was just to explain what the fuss was all about since someone asked. From what I know the motor doesn't need more than the adjustment range provides. That being said, thanks for contact info.

There is no need to go that high. It isnt actually designed to go that high from a competitive aspect in races that are governed. Use it for what it is or get out the dremel and experiment.

It was explained the 1st batch was said to only have 20 degrees of timing. So people were taking the dremel and cutting out more timing. It's not needed. If you must go faster try a lower number.

In 17.5 non-timing 1S, I am finding the higher timing to be necessary for fast laps. I experimented with a decent range of rollout @ 15* on the can. No matter what the rollout, the D3.5 was still 1.5-2 tenths off my Reedy and Revtechs. Bumping the timing up to 20* on the can knocked those 1.5-2 tenths right off. However, the motor seemed to fade a bit more than the Reedy or Revtech around the 6 min mark.

I have three D3.5 17.5s... 1 of them goes up to ~24* max, another goes to ~26*... and the last only gets up to 20-21*.

I am still playing with both rollout and timing. I am confident the motor is just as fast as my others, but it does need some more work to get the outright pace and end of run grunt. I definitely don't foresee a need to dremel/grind the motor to gain more timing.... as I can't see going over 25* for any reason in 12th scale.

The new short stack motors have been band at our local track.

How are you guys metering the motors?

Less wire lower resistance?

Why have they been banned? They meet all ROAR rules and have been legalized through ROAR for 2 months now. The stator is not shorter than the minimum in the ROAR rule book.

I must admit that trinity motors lack a little in the build quality department but on the track they are damn fast. Most other motors are much better in build quality but just don't translate into speed like trinity. I wonder why they don't mill the parts before anodizing. Seems like they didn't think things through before the engineering process and decided to make changes afterwards. I do love the power and speed trinity produces, just wished they upped their quality. Just sayin

All my D3 motors have looked pretty much like that.
