Default Unoffical, but mostly offical results

Well, after about an 2 hours of going through all the votes (reminds me of flordia) I think that I have found the following to be true, although not completly final..

Winner would be #14 with 15 legitimate votes
Tied for second would be #26 and #7, goodjob everyone. Official results should be posted sometime soon.

Wink

Hahahaha. Was it the lame posts that lead to looking at IP addresses? I am an older brother (bigger brother) and I am sure that there are many big brothers out there. But we don't base our screen names or just about anything else in life on being a bigger brother.

Maybe if your younger sibling was some really famous and important, one might try to bask in the glory of being the bigger brother. Probably just as many older brothers would go out and try that much harder to make a way or name for themselves.

But being a bigger brother of a paint contestant, whoo. That must be hard for you to live in the shadow of your younger sibling.

Hey guys I dont want to cause any trouble but I thought that the person who entered the body had to paint it is this true? B/c I kinda remember seeing #14 in the Custom paint job thread and someone said that a guy at his local hobbyshop or track painted this for him. Now was it the guy who painted it or the guy who bought it that entered the body? It might be something to look into if you realy want this over dramatized contest to end.

Kevin K,

I am the person who painted #14. I am relatively new to the hobby having only raced for about 5 months now and painted about 6 bodies to date. A friend of mine who has taken me under his wing as far as R/C cars goes was impressed with the pain job and asked if he could take some pictures of it to put on the board because at the time it was maybe my 4th body ever painted and he thought it was worth posting for me. Below is the quote from his post on 05-16-2002 at 07:59 AM.

Here's a Protoform Vauxhall done up by my buddy Norm. The interesting thing here is that he's been racing for only two months or so and this is maybe his third or fourth airbrush job. He's already got a bunch of locals wanting him to paint for them...

Norm is "F1-Fanatic" on the board, by the way.

Trips
Trips not only has shown me how to better my driving but has also shown me what liquid mask is, how to properly mount bodies and even what equipment to buy when it came time to choose an airbrush. I am still very new to this hobby and didn't think my car would even make the top 10, but I definitely did paint the body and I am still run it as my primary 1/10th X-Ray body. If there are any doubts, I can submit a picture of it with all of the dings, wall-bashing scars, and gouges the body has picked up since the photos were taken.

Again thanks to everyone for even considering my car for the contest no matter what the outcome.

Possible fixes for next time.

Contestants --
1. Need to submit photo of car
2. Video tape of them painting the car
3. Photo ID such as passport or Driver's License showing that the video of the person painting the car is truly them.

Voters--
1. Need to become a registered voter a month in advance
2. Need to submit a filled out form
3. Video tape of them filling out the form
4. Photo ID such as passport or Driver's license showing that the video of the person filling out the form is truly them.

Don`t forget to submit a DNA sample which would have trace samples of paint left in it. (Saw that on C.S.I. the other night.)

I think you should just give #14 the win if you had more legit votes for his car and end it. I also think that you should start up another contest in the near future allowing the memebers to vote for the top 10. After the top ten have been picked, I think the moderators should choose the top bodies 1 thru 10. I have a feeling that the moderators have been in this hobby for a while and I trust their opinions. Also, I would not allow the same body to be entered into a new contest except for the winner of the previous contest. Just a thought. Any other opinions?

It's a sad thing to say but I wouldn't do another paint contest. Two really great guys put something together for members of this board and it's come to this. If people needed those prizes that badly maybe would could have taken up a collection at the next race to get it for them. The contest took a turn for the worse. If there is another one later on down the road, I wouldn't leave the voting up to the members. (IMO)
