Everyone wants to be sponsored in this hobby lately.....What happend to the days of just racing, and having loads of fun.. I have been privalledged enough to be running ever since I was 10 or so and do run for some companies now, but in all honesly being sponsored is not all that easy.

Your right, but I would like to race in big events, so why not be able to represent a company and get their name out, meanwhile having the money to travel to the event.

mate you can't afford to be picky! pick up the battery sponosrship ASAP! once you proove yourselve the free stuff will come. either way you would of had to pay for the packs so you might as well pay for them and also be able to promote the fact you are sponosored!

...damn young kid!...wish i was sponsored!

whatever happened to believing in the product or company you want to be sponsored by? Too many people just looking to see where they can get the best deal now a days.

Believing in a product or your local shop and helping it or the hobby in general grow and being a positive influence WILL attract attention....

A 'What's in it for me?' attitude will shy a lot f potential sponsors away as they may be afraid that you'll be more of a mercenary than a loyal supporter...

Being active on the forums is also a serious asset....lok at the number of company representatives that are on forums such as this. If you present yourself professionally, believe me, it DOES get noticed.

YOu couldn't have said it better...You should always be able to honestly offer an opinion on the product(s) you sponsored by...Not too mention, be proud of the company you are representing as they should be to have you on their team...

No offense but I firmly believe if you can't write to a sponsor your self then maybe you don't have what it takes to be sponsored. Your mom and dad arn't on the drivers stand with you. If you can't sell yourself chances are you can't sell the product.

ill say this much.....
the sponsors i have been fortunate enough to attain have been mostly due to:

1) travel as much as you can! either to the bigger events, or even some just around your area. most companies like to get their name out there as much as you can!

2) be nice and approachable... help others, as well as not be afraid to talk to new people. the company reps are actually real people, most are very nice and interaction is good for everyone... and a good attitude is one of the most important things.

3) it is not so much that you win everywhere you go, but be consistent. i dont make the "A" at all the larger events, but most local races i do. and im definitely not the fastest person at my track....

i would also start with some of the smaller, newer companies as they are usually looking for more exposure.

good luck with your quest!

One thing to keep in mind. You have to be one of the top racers in USA in order for your sponsors to actually pay for travel expenses. You will probably need to spend at least a couple years paying for your own travel expenses so that you can get your name out there. I don't think companies pay travel expenses unless they see you preform at the national level.
