Do you think there is any place for an IFMAR world champs in the classes of.....

19 turn and silver can motors?

I'm not talking about organizing one as such (that would be someone elses nightmare lol) just wondering if there is a place for it.

To give some different people a chance at taking part in a world level event.

With a couple of rules of course.

No one that has ever taken part in the current mod worlds could enter.

If you make the A main you can only enter the event one more time

1500 unmatched packs.

One hand out motor.

But going by that why have any different classes at all?

So you basically win by attrition? You keep running year after year till all the fast guys can't run anymore? Worlds isn't about giving everyone and his brother a chance to win, it's about who's the fastest in the world.

By the way, there is sort of a race like that. It's the tamaya race in Japan. People around the world compete for a chance to win a free trip to japan and compete in the championships.

Notice there is only one class per vehicle type. In electric it is modified. They did away with the stock classes in the middle of the '80s.

I agree that there does not need to be multiple World Champions. World Champ should be the best that there is, not the best that could race in that class because the better people have moved up.

Do we really need a Novice World Champion? There is a sanctioning body in the U.S. that crowns a Novice National Champion each year.

Whats the title? "Im the fastest of an arbitrarily grouped section of racers".

Though I can see the point, if it was truly a world champion, it would be any car on the given track, who can go fastest. 1/12 electric vs 1/8 gas, etc.

That said, there are clear distictions between 1/12 electric, 1/10 elec, 1.10 gas, 1/8 gas, etc. Not so much when you spec a motor.

RC Paperboy: By your logic, World Champion in full scale would be someone who could beat anyone, anytime in NASCAR, Formula 1, Baha, DTM, GoKarts...etc

Nobody's stopping you from running a 19t/stock motor at the Worlds. Driving skill is most exploited when cars are at their fastest and hardest to control. You want the World Championships to be an exploitation of talent, driver skill and experience...right?
