How many electric cars are 200mm out of the box?

I'd like a car to run for fun at club level with some of those awesome 200mm bodies HPI do but tyres are a problem. We run on very dusty concrete so the grip is very low, everyone runs premounted Sorex 24's or CS22s or things like that. One option is to run offset wheels to make a 190mm chassis wider to 200mm but you can't find tyres which work unmounted.

OFNA do the JL10E but we can't get it here in the UK without paying import taxes. Is the HPI Sprint 2 (the latest one, orange anodised) 200mm or is it offset wheels?

Hi, The majority of TC chassis are 190mm wide. The one I use is the
Kyosho TF-5s which is 200mm out of the box so no need for offset tires
when using HPI Bodies. See attached photo of the Kyosho Aston Martin DBR-9. Regards

I hadn't thought of the Fazer, its about £140 RTR here with the Aston or Porsche body, or £150 with the Subaru rally body. I'll do some research on that. Thanks!

associated and xray for sure could do 200mm as well as any other touring car that uses the small arm mount blocks that attach to the bulkheads sideways. just use more shims, though make sure the dogbone seats properly ect.

My tc5 made it to 198mm but i needed longer arm mount screws to put it up to 200.
no rule saying you cant run 200mm body on 190 car though. if your traction is low, you probably don't want wider anyway.

The Fazer does come with a very nice body but thats all there is to it. The problem with the Fazer is that there are no "known" hop-ups available other than adjustable tie rods or shocks from another car that can be adapted to it.

As for drivetrain upgrades, I'm not so sure if it is compatible with the TF-5 parts or more so with the old FW-05 nitro. Maybe someone else will know.

However, its better if you can get your hands on a TF-5s because there are so many parts available not just from the regular TF-5 but also from the ZX-5 buggy.

That is a 235mm 1/10th nitro converted to electric. It will not fit the 200mm bodies the OP is looking to do.

The specs say it can run a 200mm body. The pics on the website also show standard touring rear shock tower along with touring body mounts.

Well it looks like they updated the car with narrower arms and shafts from their 200mm nitro TC.

However, my experience with Taiwan made RC is:

1. Poor parts distribution
2. High parts prices
3. Little to no aftermarket support for upgrades.

Not sure what its like in the UK for the OP but thats pretty much how its been in the U.S.

Agreed. As for 200mm vs 220mm, it looks like all they're doing is putting on wider tires, cranking out the pivot balls, and adding an 1/8 style rear body mount.

You could also put a 1mm wheel spacer on each side to get it out to 200mm. I know some USGT guys do this to make 200mm bodies fit.

Something looks a bit out of proportion on that picture in comparison with other TCs. What is the wheel base of that thing? It looks much longer than that of a standard 200mm TC.

Tamiya Group C Chassis
 

The Tamiya Group C chassis is 200mm wide, and at it's shortest wheelbase setting (3 wheelbase settings available) you can run 200mm touring car or HPI made GT bodies. Big fat sticky foam tires, lightweight, easy to run-and the black "Speedline" wheels that come with the Mercedes look really good with most cars.
