Im still waiting for my first rc to be delivered but I would like to know how long batteries usually last for? I know Ill get a stock standard one and it wont last long so I would like to get a better one. What are the top brands in quality? Or what are good price wise?

Benchmark for the life of LiPos is 1000 cycles. Obviously every battery is going to be different. Top brands in quality would be Thunder Power, RevTech, Orion and there are a few more just do a little research. The Turingy and Gens Ace batteries are good batteries to for the price. Out of those batteries it depends on what your looking to do for price/performance, are you going to bash or race?

His first ride? He's looking for run-time.

my sakura zero s with 17.5t blinky setup can run on the track for 25mins, and still have 7.6v inside. (8.4v when full)
battery is 5200mah 30-40C 2S zippy.
stopped because 1. I'm tired, 2. the motor is running hot(155F) without a cooling fan on it.

haven't used my turnigy nano-tech 6600mah 65-130C 2S on it yet, bought that for sc10 4x4.
Kind of a overkill for a stock 17.5t setup.

Yeh someone guessed it hahaha, its my first run when I get it so I would just like it to last to take for a spin, for now. If I can find some on road tracks in my country I would like to see how I go against competition but first I would like to get the hang of the rc. But I think this will be my new hobby, I was making model planes before but I find this even more fun, I would like to upgrade the car very slowly to make it at least decent but not too elite because I dont have that much of a budget to make it that good. Im still doing research on what are good rc brands and how to make them
