vBulletin 3 appears to have a "user reputation" system that might be useful in encouraging people to create more valuable posts.

That is true, although I don't know when Futureal is planning on finally migrating the whole forum on it. Another thing is, although it exists, people don't seem to be aware of it or to think about it.

Are you talking about the Star system??? It's a BS popularity contest.... I've been on forums where people will intentionally give everyone the lowest vote they can....

How about we just get along??? Stop with the stupid posts and use the search button more before we ask a quetsion that has been answered hundreds of times before....

Maybe a General tech forum for questions that apply to all forms of RC....

Whatever is done don't make this place like that other site....

Default A good idea but.....

it would help if for example you had a SSG question you could go to the SSG thread and search within it.

This is available in the new software upgrade that I'm sure Shane is working hard on.

Until it's implemented, I'd recommend using Ctrl+F in your browser to open the 'find' dialogue box and doing a search page by page...it at least saves you the time of trying to read it all

And... collecting all data for a particular car in one thread makes it harder to search for a certain topic. If a user wants to know about "TC4 gearing"... it'd be way better to have that information collected in a thread that's just about TC4 gearing... that way someone could search just the titles of threads and find it immediately.
  • Encourage people to use PM for targeted communication to a user. All the time someone will say something that's off-topic... then people respond to that post on the same thread informing them that it's off-topic... and before you know it you've got threads that are 1000 posts long, but only 40% of the posts add any value.
  • If you can't install some kind of rating system for posts...have a few more moderators that will enforce your rules a bit better.
I think these are good suggestions

But basically, it's simply about good behavior. Stay cool and have fun

True. But you can take it pretty far, by choosing "search" and checkmark the "Show results as posts ".

Futureal, can you make this to the default setting?

Also, people shold generally search more, before asking !

Default And while we're at it...

I'm so tired of posts like "I think product XXX is better" or "I like YYY better" or "at my opinion ZZZ is bad".

Who cares about opinions? In general they're useless.

What matters are reasons - if people say "I think product XXX is better, because it's realiable and never break down" or "I like YYY better, it might get hot every once in a while, but it's cheap and feature TTT really improved performance" or "at my opinion ZZZ is bad, because diff access is hard".

Then I can judge for myself wichever these things matter to ME.

And then you actually helped me, instead of wasting my time.

Thanks.
