And also...Have you ever attended a National event, IIC, Reedy race, Cleveland Indoor champs? This is the type of races I was referring to. Not local racers.

Roar is doing its job to even out the playing Field, and I am happy with the different choices they have in Blinky Class: it's DEMOCRACY, not Socialism !!!

EA: the ignore feature works wonders........

If nothing else, handout sealed motors would go a long way as a start. ESCs would be icing on the cake.

It's these spec out rules that turn people that have already made huge investments in other electronics, away from the hobby. It's cirtix today, maybe RS tomorrow, and lrp the day after..etc... Not counting the amount of Work it takes to fit and refit new speedies at every event ! No way baby! Not in America !!! We have other things to do too you know...! Follow the Roar Rules, and you won't have to worry, just be happy....

Your missing the whole point. It would not work like that I dont think. If a race was going to go to a handout its obvious that Tekin will not offer the RS (As you state in your example) for 50-60.00.

Roar rules really work well.....What were there....35 entries in stock TC this year at the Nats? ETS had 95 at one race? Yea seems we really know how to draw the crowds here....woohoo

I am.....have been for a long time and former member of the EXCOM.....any more questions?

The spec speedo has been on ROAR's mind for a while. Dont know if it is at the moment as I am not on a Board anymore but it was there when I left and was being discussed.

I'm going to be sorry for encouraging you... but.....

What you described above as a bad thing from a standard, is just what we have today, new tires per run, speedo of the month and motor of the week. The fact is unless you are are in the top 10 in the nation, the very small advantage newer technology has to offer will not help you. Most of us use the same equipment for the season.... unless you have deep pockets.....

My point, you post was typical hog wash....

This idea would definitely work... Mind you at first there would be growing pains but in the long run I can see the benefits. I've always admired the European way for onroad racing and wondered why we could never at least try to adopt a similar formula.

If we could just put aside what is best for the "racer" for a short time to fix the "racing", then in the long run it would all work out for both.

Not arguing the spec point at all here, just pointing out that Population density has a little to do with turnout as well.

And the ROAR carpet nats are rarely the best attended of the US races. I think Scotty had a pretty decent number of 17.5 sedans, they were just spread over 3 classes.

I dont think the higher turnout has anything to do with the stock speedo and ESC. I fully believe its more of a cultural thing. Europeans love motorsports much more then north americans, and will have higher turnouts no matter what type of car is being raced.

The only thing this stock speedo/motor idea does is create a massive second hand market from all the racers trying to sell last years $50 speedo, for this years $50 speedo.
