PDA Software????
Is there any PDA software for RC Racing? It would be great if you could just bring a PDA to trhe track and have all of your setup sheets, track your run times...and what ever else....
|
If you have Excel in your PDA you can make some ratio charts, with a PDF editing program you can make your own setupsheets.
If someone knows a PDF-prog for Symbian Series60 mobile phones (Nokia 6630 in first hand) you can post here or PM me, I have only found Adobe Reader for Symbian90... |
Right now I use a Palm Tungsten C for general use. On the Palm TC, aside from the included software, I use "SmartList To Go" and "Thought Manager". "Thought Manager" is much quicker for re-organizing information than a spreadsheet. It is primarily an "outliner" programme.
Example: Tamiya TA05: __Orion 19T motor ____[a bunch of notes about the Orion motor ... ] __Futaba S9550 servo ____[a bunch of notes about the Futaba S9550 servo ... ] If I have the above in an outline, then I can "clip" the Futaba S9550 material and move it to another car (like a word processor), or hide the data and just see the name. It is also possible to attach drawing to items in "Thought Manager", which is very difficult to do in most spreadsheets and even some databases. "SmartList To Go" is a full relational database which a fairly easy to use front end. I have barely started using it for RC because I have only recently gotten involved in RC again, but I have been using the software for a few years for a number of other things (such as tracking the cost of groceries). I expect I will eventually be using it a lot for RC too. |
Do you think there's demand for PDA software? What PDA do you use? I currently make PC software, and a PDA version shouldn't be too much work (I think).

PDA Software for RC Racing
The only PDA software I know about is here:
http://www.pandarc.com/index.php It's a company in the UK. |
Just bought a pda last week. I used adobe for palm software that came with the Tungsten T5. I have loaded pdf files of setups on mine.
|
I bought a Sony Clie a year or so ago with the hope of using it for RC stuff, but I just couldn't find anything to run on it to make it feesable, shame realy. Also kicking myself for not buying a Microsoft based package, but then they were twice the price.

The PDA software I mentioned is for RC stuff, any good?

dr_hufhurr (Sorry blake.don't know if I EVER spell that right) has made a realy nice rollout calculator for pocket PC's....
he has it available on his site here http://www.2brainsdesign.com/2Brains...lloutCalc.aspx |
other than rollout calculators..I've been downloading the modifyable pdf's into Adobe and just editing them...
Also importing Excel spreadsheets full of data such as spring rates etc... lots of options.... |
myself just purchased a Tugsten E2 and use the adobe software to install setups and such, but nothing beat the old Laptop on the desk, much powerfull and big screen
|
Terry, the one you mention is good, but only for Windows based PDA's :(
