Hi Guys, some quick comments to help you sleep tonight
The left-right weight distribution is almost equal. Like the RDX you will actually have to have 5-10g more weight on the side of the battery if you run GP3300's. But then the newer and slightly heavier GP3700's were taken into account at the design phase...
The motor is more to the inside then you may think. It looks worse on the pictures because the chassis is extremely narrow. It is for instance 6-7mm narrower than the 415 chassis... Having said that, the design does leave the motor less protected than with the FK. But this is true for all cars with this layout.
The front one-way is specifically designed for the FK'05. The reason being that the front belt is on the other side of the car compared to earlier T1's. So the one-way is reversed and therefore not usable on the earlier T1's. Similarly the older one-ways will not work on the FK'05 (unless you want rear-wheel drive with spool braking that is
).
Pre-production versions of the car are in use at the Snowbirds this week. Currently it is practice time. The European drivers running it are Jilles Groskamp (1st in PRO Mod), Martin Hudy (3rd in PRO Mod, 5th in 19T Expert), Joel Myrberg and Juraj Hudy himself. For the US Ralph Burch, Mike Dumas and Jarred Scott are running the FK'05 for certain. Car is working great at the moment!

Thanks Tony, definitely will sleep better tonight!
Now, you are saying the team guys are using the pre-production model, any differences between the one on the website now compare to the pre-prod ones they are running?
Also, is the car we are seeing on your website the absolute what the production will look like?
Thanks.
Dom

Dom, no key differences between pre-production and production version. The main difference is that the pre-production uses some parts that were not yet machined through the manufacturing chain that will result in the production kits. The pictures are "wysiwyg" (what you see is what you get).
Alberto, cannot give you any marketing details yet. Mario should be back from Nürnberg on Monday and has promised to respond to such questions on the XRay forum then with whatever info is final.

It makes sense that even in an effort to win at all costs-they should run production cars to a T at this event. They already have enough problems in the US (no parts, no car kits). They dont need all us Internet jockies finding ot they didnt run the fk05 at the Snowbirds. Know what I mean?
Associated did not let anyone sponsored runa TC3 at the Champs-Xray shold make the whole team run the fk05.
Okeedokee-off my pedastal!!

One thing too is hard to tell who exactly is XRAY sponsored, or those that has "connections" that confused with sponsored. I for one, couldn't keep track of who is sponsored, seems everyone has a "connection" put Team XRAY in their sig, or claim they are sponsored
But whatever it is, it's pretty cool do see car is doing pretty well in practice already.
Do you know the weight on the car in comparison to the FK?

Thanks for the info Tony!
I'm not a fan of how Tamiya hung the motor way off the side. I felt they kind of "half-assed" that aspect of the car. new car sounds a little more promising now.

On forums anyone who has an avatar like mine will in principle be sponsored or have some other role on team XRay. This avatar design is copyright protected and should not be used by others to avoid confusion.
The weight of the car is comparable to the FK. My prototype weighs about 1430 grams with a 3mm chassis. We also tested a 2.2mm chassis but am not sure which will make it into the kit but judging by the pictures it's the 3mm one.
Update on practice: Expert 19 Martin Hudy 5th. Sports 19 Martin 1st, Jilles Groskamp 2nd and Ralph Burch 8th. Boy I wish I was there

I know along with myself there are alot of "B team" xray drivers on this board. Although it is true that some people do just put whatever equiptment they run reguardless of sponsorship in their avatar, which there is nothing wrong with.

Well-the FK had served me well all last season. I loved the car in most ways. The FK05 looks like a step in the right direction for sure. LOve the side-by side batteries and the larger pulley!!
I hope this new layout is more consistent in super high bite. By that I mean-as bite goes from high to oh-my-god-car will get faster and not require too many set-up changes to keep up.

I expected the new chassis to be lighter... what tires and equipment do you have on your proto, tonyv?
