With 48p I dont know. But 64p you can put a 120 spur max and 36 pinion max I think. I can't imagine needing anything bigger than that

Thanks guys,
I guess I'm trying to find the biggest pinion I can fit if I'm stuck with the standard 84T 48P spur. its for a 540 handout race. As usual, if I'd looked into this sometime last week I wouldn't have this dilemma .......

I'm currently running a PRS 116 x 38 on a team checkpoint 19t.
Speedy lil devil. Maxes out around halfway the straight and carries the punch for a full 5 minutes on a GP3300 running a pt, gtx, receiver, (soon) two novak fans mounted on the team tamale fan mount. Race weight around 1530 grams and a Mazda 6 body. Hope this helps.
I havent tried the 40 pinion yet and not sure if it fits with the PRS 116.
Race motor is the team orion element 19t which draws less current so it should last longer, the battery that is.

Well I don't know if anyone is interested, but my results on the max pinion size thing are as follows.
You can *just* get a 30T pin on the stock 84 spur, but it is kind of a tight mesh, but its OK. I ended up running a 29T pin with my handout 540 giving a rollout of 40.17mm. There were other racers there running rollouts up and over 45mm, but there wasn't a great speed diff on the track, I was pretty much on the money speed wise.
I was pitting with a guy also using an 05, he was swapping between a 30, 29, and eventually a 28T pin. Interestingly, his temp gauge showed higher temperatures on the 28T than on the 29T. I guess the motor was spending more time at WOT.
So there, it is, 540 racing with an FK'05. It was fun, but I'll be glad to get back to my stocks and 19T's.

still got 05 drivers around?? i got a question for you guys.. i tested my 05 today and everytime i make a turn it makes a sound. i take a look at my front drive shaft and it has a mark from getting hit by the wheel axel. both left and right side...any advice will be appreciated..thank you

Well I am by no means an FK'05 guru, but my first reaction is that you have too much steering throw. If you need that much steering throw then I think you need to check your setup.
There are a couple of 05 drivers at my club, and like myself, we don't use anywhere near max steering throw. I would have to check, but on my Tx I believe I am running about 70-75% of steering rate.

No question.
Just happy to see that the T1 FK' 05 thread is still alive.

Hi guys,
Well, I need a proven set-up for a race on carpet with a 17T motor and rubber tires (nosram vtec 30). Any idea please ?
Which motor pinion with the 84 spur gear ? The track is pretty small.
Which set-up ? I use the multi-flex upper deck.
Thanks for answering me.
Cheers.

I have raced anything from a Serpent to Tamiya.
The Xray FK05 is one hell of a tank. Can anybody compare the durability of the FK05 to the T2?

What parts do I need to hook the steering link up to the servo arm (which I also need to order)? I see an arm with a hole through it, and a link that has a bushing inside. Are they simply bolted together? If so, what size / type of fastener? Any thing else I should know?
