Don't worry about me. I'm ex-military and still have my flack jacket.

It would normally be hard to be nice. But thanks to my sponsors, less expenses = more patience.

Finally G'night all. Let this issue be put to rest as well.

What is TeamGP's role with Xray?

TonyV says he is signed by Xray, but I find that hard to believe as R/C America does not consider him to be one of their team drivers? He is not listed as a driver and when RCA was asked about him by a customer of theirs, their response is that he is a moderator for the Xray forum that helps Mario with some tech articles apparently.

I put my trust in RCA as they are the exclusive North American Distributor, everything must go through them.

Maybe we should PM Mario for the truth?

No one should complain when he writes on these forums, they are free to both contribute and enjoy, it is good detailed info, I personally find him to be wrong in a lot of results based on my own testing and what works for me, but it seems people enjoy his writing, so nothing wrong with that keep it up GP as clearly you help some.

I think the underlying issue here is his avatar.

I personally think the "X" avatar should only be allowed to be used by real team drivers. He continually confronts people, these very seem people that are buying consumers that support Xray, why Xray has not noticed he is pissing people off is a surprise. The 'X" gives him credit and can be misleading to consumers. As long as he has the "X", Xray should be aware the general paying consumer has no choice but to view him as a rep of Xray. Guy's idea's are more for the advanced driver, or better said the driver that wishes to have work in progress project set ups. Again which is fine.

When it comes to setting up a new Xray, I would be more inclined to try a team drivers set up with more success or is more established. When GP makes a "A" at a ROAR National or large trophy race, then I will be inclined to start reading what he is saying or trying one of his set ups.

Guy do you travel? have you been to nationals? what are your results? give me some credentials to back up your 'X" have you won the local "A" main? or any trophy race? Do you run Mod? or just stock?

I find "X" avatar is just not fitting under his role with Xray. ( moderator) and is VERY misleading to the general public. I was confused at 1st and really had to ask some questions to people to see if anyone knows you. How does a guy that can not win at a local event get to be a team driver? is it really that easy to get on the Xray team? How did you do it?

If he did not use the avatar he would just be what he is, a Xray fan that likes to test a lot.

So Team GP, what is it? are you a RCA team Driver? Are you a Xray team driver? Are you Mario's right hand man? what is your exact role? The best thing to shut everyone up is answer what everyone is wanting to know, again what is your position/role with RCA and Xray?

I am going to get one of the T1FK'05 car kit and i am in Australia. just wandering the whether the front diff is one way or not, is it the same as the one at the back?

I saw one of the Hop-up 305101 differential pro set, what is the difference between this one and the factory kit?

Is front one way really important on this car?

one more question is what you guys would suggest on the hop-up options that are necessary to this car

Thanks a lot

TeamGP as I said before is signed by XRay, not RC America. Moreover he is signed not primarily as a driver but to provide support and share his setup knowledge. You don't have to be a good driver to know how to setup a car.

Not sure I understand your point. The "X" avatar is restricted to people associated with XRay either directly, like TeamGP and myself, or through a distributor like RC America (who have their own avatar I believe). The Avatar is not restricted to team drivers but includes all personel that provide support through, a.o. the XRay forums. If it were restricted to team drivers only for instance Mario Hudy would have to find another avatar...

Now to put this matter to rest, if any of you have any issues with TeamGP I suggest you refrain from discussing them on public forums. Either PM him directly or send an e-mail to [email protected] with TeamGP on copy. This kind of bashing does not belong here and is totally uncalled for.

As a local driver who races with Guy (Team GP), I have to vouch for him. To get 2nd in pro-stock at our track takes ALOT. This is with guys who have nearly 50% sponsorships from Express / Br00d and Surge. He is also a stand-up human being and one of the best people I know.

Back up off 'em...

I had a similar problem and found that one side of the rear diff pulley had a sharp edge and it was slicing the belt. Check the layshaft pulley for any wear/warping as well.

I believe all kits internationally, except in the US, come with one-ways. The US kits come with ball diffs. Using the one-way and suggested hopups really depends on the type of track and tires you're using. Let us know and we'll be glad to help.

There is some information in the XRAY forum FAQ page on suggested hopups as well.

I am with Stiltskin and Soviet... I too run at the same track as Guy... but I in no way run an FK05. Personally i cant stand the car... so hows that for a neutral and profane statement? LOL j/k

Guy is someone very focused on learning to be the best he can be in this hobby. Admittedly he can be very stubborn to listen to others... but that is only an issue when he ASKS questions, and then refuses to listen. In the past year he has advanced tremendously, and on the whole... has done it on his own. He asks questions here and there but has pretty much branched out into his own understanding of setup and suspension geometry. Alot of you guys say "start with a team drivers setup that works" and go from there... but last time i checked... very few of us actually drive like those team drivers... or even use/have access to the same equipment/settings... so how could you assume your car would work JUST LIKE theirs? That assumption speaks volumes of your own understanding and logic. At our home track there is a good amount of comp... we arent the fastest guys... but we all strive for that A main like its a regional event. I give Guy mad props in the fact he actually sticks with it and is at the track turning laps to learn what so many try to buy... consistency, with speed as its byproduct. If half of the people involved in this hobby... and all of the people that started and left after their first C main finish... had his level of dedication... then we would have alot more people gunning for that top spot. Once Guy gets a firm understanding of setup and what the changes will do to the car... he will be able to make 5 to 10 changes all at once and be able to predict how the car will handle... and be at least 95% right. That cant be done if you are to skeered to make changes, or to try something unconventional. Setup is like the truth... its subjective to ones perspective. If you feel what is being said just isnt right then maybe you need to get a few books and study for yourself and stop asking so many questions of people that you wont agree with anyways. Admittedly, as setup can be considered a personal opinion, setup shouldnt be tossed out there and assumed as "the rule". There are way too many variables to even say ones setup is the poopie over someone elses. So why use this as a base to debate a persons personal character in an open forum? Im here because i know Guy more than some speaking against him. So hold up your cups and pour out the Haterade. Now hit the LHS and buy a shaft car!!

I second that. Guy is one of the nicest people on the planet. He is on the forums simply because he wants to help. You haters need to stop complaining and contribute. Anyone can choose to step out and do the same type of write ups that Teamgp does. Step out and help the people less knowledgable get a handle on setups. Very few have taken the time to explain in detail what does what and why. The comprimises and effects. Guy has documented this. His sucesses and failures alike. Who else puts themselves out there like that on a public forum. It is a completely selfless act. This is what got recognized and rewarded by Xray. People, this is a hobby. Pricey toy cars that we get together to see if our prep, car, and skills match up to other "big kids". If your life is so tied to these toy cars, that you have to attack a fellow hobbyist for his success, you have other issues in your life you need to deal with than why Guy Hood is sponsored by Xray.
