I really don't understand the issues against Teamgp. It is not whether he is running a oneway, diff, or a spool. It is about the process. How to find the setup that works for you. What handling issues people have and how to go about finding a solution. What suspension changes to make and how they effect the car. A oneway is an option. Teamgp has not advocated everyone give up your diff and join the oneway revolution. What he has done is DOCUMENT his efforts in finding a solution to the oneway option he has chosen to use. His work is universal to whatever front drive means is used. Roll center changes are going to have its effect reguardless of what you are running. So is droop, caster, etc. That is the point. An insight into the understanding of the "dark art" of suspension tuning that the "fast guys" at every home track tend to keep close to home. Anyone can tell a newbie to "try this". But how many times have you heard that "fast guy" explain why you should "try this" and how it will work against the problem. This is where the value of Teamgp's detailed posts lie. It is not about the oneway it is about information. Information that is useable for the new guy and the not so new guy too. The changes to a suspension, good and bad, smart and foolish, that move a person toward their optimal setup. Teamgp has documented both his sucesses and his mistakes and has explained why it did or didn't work. What almost everyone goes through to tune a suspension. That Teamgp chose to run a oneway is way down the list when weighing the overall contribution he has and continues to make.

Come on guys. This issue is a dead horse. Lets move on and make this thread interesting to read once again instead of a place to view controversy.

Big Dogg, I agree with you this guy team gp is a total wannabe , giving information know one wants to know. GP what you should do is give that information to the guys at your track but I bet they would'nt want your information because u suck

Do you think Gp knows more than the xray driver, I think not he is just waisting his time and others and steering the novices in the wrong direction. If you think his setup is so good than run it and you will get smoked anywhere.

Stay tuned, I'll have another interesting update tomorrow morning as its time to go to bed now.

I never thought I'd be doing this but I'm going to defend Guy. You guys have made him out to be some egotistical team driver, hell-bent on proving his way is the best. I race with him every weekend and you couldn't be further from the truth. Believe me, I tried to tell him how stupid it was to run a one-way, and we did manage to get him to stop running nitro shoes.
My initial problem with his one-way setups were that he had to carry so much speed into and through the turn (pull the trigger and hang on) that he inevitably ended up in the back of the person in front of him. He definitely had a plow boy style of driving. He is constantly tweeking his setup and I can't say that he runs the same thing two heats in a row, let alone two weeks in a row. He has improved drastically over the last few months and now it is hard to tell that he has a one-way in the car. His lap times are consistent and just as fast as the fastest guys. (except for those elusive 9.9s
) I'm not trying to say that a one-way is the way to go. Everything has a learning curve and he has dedicated his time and effort to making it work on carpet with foams and has done a great job of reporting it. Maybe his mistake is that he reports it too much. I told him to start his own thread so if you don't want to read it you don't have to. If you do decide to read it, you have nothing to complain about. Now how about somebody talking about this overpriced TC that we like to call the FK05. Isn't that what this thread is about anyway. And by the way, while I'm on this thread. CORALLY RULES!!!!

In a more serious nature, after thinking about it, I'd rather continue to post a small note, with a link to the thread I created in the XRAY forum, in the FK05 thread here as I have in the past. I'll make sure to add a disclaimer for the new drivers emphasizing that the one-way setup is NOT the norm for foam/carpet racing and should be considered a project for anyone interested, until it is validated at a national/international event by one of the XRAY team drivers. Capeesh?
BTW,
(R)eally
(D)estructive
(X)ray
...the Nitro Shoes will make a comeback one day...

he's a idiot , big dogg already told him if he wanted to help start from a pro set up which works then try stuff. But I don't think anyone would want to know what happens because we all know he sucks without even seeing him race.

King of B Main, YGPM. Lets take if off-line if you don't mind. People would rather read about the FK05.

I would agree... its very, very dead now.. any talk about how dominating the FK05 still is? I ran it last weekend, tq'd & won the ROAR Super Regional even against corallys, ae's, and some others...

In teamgp's defense, I raced at the Northwest Carpet Champs this weekend at Stockton R/C (host track for the upcoming Carpet Nats) and there were several local fast guys running one-ways in stock, 19t, and mod this weekend, myself included. I tried it out for a few runs in my Schumacher and it seemed good until the bite started getting crazy high and the car started to do some strange things when transfering from an off power state to on power state mid corner. The Xray drivers had more adjustments available to them to smooth out the transition (diff height, locked one-way) so I had to pull mine and go a different route in my setup.
I believe like any setup, it is a compromise that can be advantageuos on some tracks but down right horrid on others. But you will never get to the front of the pack doing what exactly everyone else is.
