I wish I had seen this back when I was assembling mine...the only ugly looking thing on my xray are the scratched up shock rods. Now I need to buy 4 new shock rods=approx. $19. And the part #970050 ( the O-rings) anyone know where to get these speedtech is sold out.

Anyone have the part numbers for those Serpent...
shocks? Do you need two sets of rears? Man, I dislike the stock shocks after having some JRX-S ones.

When I first tried to thread the shock ends on, I had a problem too. So what I ended up doing was not installing the piston like the instructions said. I installed the e-clip that goes below the shock piston and then stuck the shaft through the bottom and buit the seal. I was then able to grab the shock shaft through the top of the shock where the shaft is flat. It made it worlds eaiser for me. Hope this helps.

put the shafts in a Dremel and use 1500 to 2000 grit WET sand paper to remove the scratches.Then use a good polish to bring back that nice XRay shine.(What have you got to lose,shafts are screwed anyway 
)While I was learning how to build the shocks,I scratched one,
Did above,and used the shaft.This was over 6 months ago.No leaks,works fine(by the way,mine had two rather deep scratches in it.) and still use that shaft today.Don,t spend all that money on new shafts if they can be fixed!!!
