If it meant getting to hang out for 5 days like at the Snowbirds-I'd do it, but you know I cannot!! Definately in 2006.

Default Lowest Roll Out possible.

Just to geting myself ready for the 05. Would I be able to run 22mm rollout with the 05. I run brushless on club meets and anything higher than 23mm rollout will thermal the speed controller. I run 93tooth spur and 16tooth pinion on my FK. Any suggestion on spur/pinion combo that I should have to get the same rollout. I use 48 pitch.

Regards,

i'd like to know something similar,
what are currently thought to be the max sized spur & pinion sizes on the kit?
I know its unsure exactly how small a pinion it can go on the max sized spur, but i was wondering what these were, cant remember seeing this

Dan:
You could use something like GearChart.com to find that out, assuming you know what the possible gearing on the car would be.
You can get a full rollout chart for about 6 spurs and pinions either side of what you specify, which is ideal for printing a couple out for different wheel dimensions, and then gear it accordingly.

Regards,
good question, I would like to know this as well, as run 22 rollout with a 9x2 Krypton,

I am a little bit annoyed that the US kits come with a front ball diff, now I have to spend more on the one way as well as the battery strap,

the FK05 is about US$50 more than the FK04, where is the extra value??

There was a price adjustment due to currency exchange issues....

You are in AUS...your local dealers will be getting the multi-diff....the Asian shops will be getting multi-diff...no need to order the US-Spec kit if you don't like how it is configured.....just get one from your LHS and be happy

The ball diffs will transfer over from the older kits.

Purchase a kit from outside the US then!
I dont use either a one way or a spool, although i'll probably purchase the kit from an Asian shop and hold onto a ball diff from my FK when selling it and put the one way that came with it in there.
Look at doing the same, grab one from HK etc they were about the same price as the US when i was looking at the FK04 about 6 months ago, it might be easier to do that than buy another one way and spool if you use that too.

Lucky for me I sold a spare rear diff to fund for a multi-diff. I read somewhere that an 87 tooth spur(48 pitch) might be the biggest that we can fit. So the pinion might be around 14-16 depending on tire diameter.

I heard that 14,15 would be a tight fit and definitely nothing less than 14.

With a 63mm tire size (std. rubber) a 15/87 combo gives a rollout of 20.073...

14/87 gives 18.735...

that's a pretty low rollout.....

Looks like it will be OK then, coz I used to run a Hacker 6 turn on my FK and anything above 22mm rollout the esc shutsdown. Cars now been sold but same electronics will be fitted to an 05 when it arrives. Can't wait for a 05

The US kits will come with a diff, the Asia and Europe kits will come with the new multi-diff. For the US this decision was made based on the extensive outcry from US customers when the FK came out with a front one-way. A vast majority wanted a diff instead and XRay/RC America listened to this request.

On the gearing, the biggest spur that will fit safely is an 87 tooth (48dp, don't know about 64dp). A 16 tooth pinion is sure to fit and XRay is planning to add 16 and 17 tooth pinions to the range (currently 18 is the smallest). I tried a 15 tooth on an 84dp spur but this gives too much play. May fit with an 87 tooth spur though it will probably be a tight fit.

Smaller pinions could be fitted if you are willing to use a dremel on the motor mount to extend the screw slots...
