Hey Guys. I wanna try and use a spool for the first time outdoors. I have a couple of questions. I read on here that alot of people like the spool but the black blades get damaged. What type of damage are we talking about.

I just dont want to be in my main and have the black blade get damaged or come off the cvd and it mess up my Multidiff and not make me finish the race.

Any Info

Great job John thank you to make us dreaming...
Thanks!
It's nice to see people like how I built my car.
It is also pleasant the fact that it runs as good as it looks!

the blades jsut get worn through where the pin goes through it, i replace my blades after every 2/ 3 meetings with a 19t on asphalt but you may need to replace more frequently with a mod

At least till the next race on 18.09.2005. If it runs well, it might stay that way...

Default Drive Shaft Replacement Cap "Black blade"

The "Black Blade" you talk of is called the "Drive Shaft Replacement Cap" they are an item that is meant to wear out. Better a $1 cap than the diff shafts getting damaged. I replace mine once they shown signs of wearing (splitting).

They only split if you hit something - something I do all the time

The caps on a spool will wear them out quicker than ones on a standard diff as a spool has less give in it when you hit something...

Thank You John S & Roadrunn3r. I understand now.

What is a good starting point as far as droop on a low to med bite asphault track with rubber tires using a spool? I use the millemeters over ride height teqnique. Anyone

I've used the same blades for months on my asphalt FK04 with a spool- just depends on how often you hit the pipes, and whether they are glancing blows or solid hits. If you are bending dogbones occassionally, then expect to break some blades.

Droop- pretty much the starting point for droop on asphalt is always 2/3mm (fr/rr respectively). Some start with 3/3, but it really depends on the smoothness of the track surface. If it's quite bumpy then you will have to use other options to tune than droop because the suspension needs the ability to travel in both directions.

I lost my copy of RC Car Action Touring Car edition that had the pic of Ralph Burch's XRay. Can anyone point me to this picture on-line? I appreciate the help!

the black "blades" are one of the great little xray features that i always ask myself "why don't other brands copy it??" especially for high torque cars like nitros....but oww well i guess they don't want to be seen as copycats
