Hi all,

I am considering picking up an fk' 05 but am curious what are the advantages of the Xray compared to the Pro 4 that I have now.

We have a new track opening in my area, which is going to be a good sized asphalt track indoors with from what we're hearing super high traction levels.

What do you suggest? Sell the Pro 4 and buy the Xray or? Any thoughts or opinions I'd really appreciate since I want an educated decision before I drop 400 bucks on the kit, then another 100 on the multi-diff and battery strap.

Also, anyone got one for sale in spotless condition? Preferably with extras and at least the multi-diff and or the battery strap as well.

Default Xray 30 wt. Oil??

Hey,

I was just wondering how the Xray 30 wt. shock oil compares with other brands like Losi as far as viscosity? In other words are they rated the same?

get the biggest 64dp spur u can find, a 116t or 115t and pinions from 21t - 39t and you're good to go. the range covers the ratios needed for mod and 23t use at BK's track.

I have both the Pro 4 and the FK05. To be honest with you, I kinda liked the handling of my Pro4 better on Asphalt. Don't get me wrong, the Xray is a beast, but for some reason I felt a little better stabled in my Pro4. Then again, the Pro 4 is a bear to work on due to the internal diffs.
Its a toss up. All cars are great nowadays. For Asphalt, I still think the Pro 4 is tops. Especially the 2005 edition. (Not the Hara edition as it comes with a 2.5 deck and the Japan 2005 comes with 2.0)

Whoa, where did you get that info? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just find it hard to believe that there is that much difference in brands.

In my experience, its the same for Trinity (50wt). However, closing one hole with Xray oil is equal to closing about 1 1/2 holes with the thinner Trinity oil.

But for the ease of maintenance, versatility, performance potential in any condition, very low weight and unmatched durability in the TC realm, I'd steer you to the Xray.

Yea I really like the Xray, and at the carpet track I run at now, man those Xrays are almost unbeatable except by a select few.

From what I have seen on them the durability of them are unmatched. Also almost every tuning option is available at your finger tips with little or no extra parts to have to buy.

Who's got one for sale?

picked up my fk05 this evening. haven't began assembling, but had 2 questions hopefully someone knows off the top of their head.

1. what size are the axle screws that hold the wheels on (diameter/length)?
2. previously a couple of people reccommended the spring steel axles/hubs. why? i felt these things tonight in comparison to the aluminum ones and they feel like monsters (way heavy). i'm running 19t/stock almost exclusively, is it a wear factor?

Dont know about the wheel screws off of the top of my head...

On the Axles, Yes it is a wear factor. After running the STD ones for a while the back of the axle behind the bearing bends leaving a flange so that when you come to rebuild the hubs you have to use a large hammer to get the buggers out of the Bearing/Hub

Hit them out with a hammer !!!! what are ya nuts?? Never do that you will destroy the bearings. What you do is file the flange where it is binding. Then it slides right out.

Now to avoid the flange from mushrooming do this with a dremel before assembly

Has anybody treat thier belts with anything to reduce friction? I read somewhere that some people spray WD-40 on them to reduce friction, The 05 is my 1st belt drive car, just trying to find out all the little tricks. I also don't want to do anything to cut the belt life in half. I am runnig stock so any tips would help, As we all know, FRICTION IS THE ENEMY
