Did you properly break-in the diff?

I just eyeballed it... I couldn't get the ends on as far as the manual suggested but I got it close. In the end I measured the shocks and got pairs matched up, so one pair may be half a mm longer than the other.

Sounds like you need a rebuild .. The Diff lube is heating up when your running and getting thin, causing it to fell crunchy. Then as the lube cools down after the run it gets thinker making it feel normal...

Same way as the manual suggests...

Run it loose for a pack, and then tighten it a bit, then run some more and tighten and so on.

(digs out the manual...) it says 1 mm I couldn't get them that far, but real close. if you can get it within 1-2mm you be fine, so long as you match them up in pairs.

does anyone besides Xray make a spool ??? They have discontinued it since the multi diff has come out. Does team tammale make one ???

I would just get a spool if you can find it, or youll have to shell out for the Multi Diff.
The light blue springs seem to be working for me on asphalt.
If you want to go over protective, get a rubberneck bumper and maybe some Alum chubs.
Maybe the Spring steel outdrives, but those would be last for me, get the other stuff first.

Re-read my post. I did rebiuld it using the included Xray grease. I think something in the assembly is warping as the diff heats up during the run. I'm really not sure.

If you want to use the ackerman extension set be sure to stock some steering knuckles because they will break by almost every hit (the rubberneck front bumper helps a bit). One set of suspension arms is also a nice to have in your box but you have to hit hard to be able to break them. Maybe a pair of rear upright is also good to have because sometimes the screw of the upper link can damage them during a hard hit of the rear.
I would change the front alu axles to the steel ones they are expensive but it is a one time investment. The alu ones are just not hard enough.
The middle pulleys wear out after a while especially when you run low turn mod and the front drive shafts can be bent - but you can repair them.
You should have an extra set of belts also.
Mainly thats all.
