need view points on the Tamiya shocks

been thinking of doing this conversion. just need to know what part #'s I need for the mounts and if there are any other issues that I may run into.

also if the xray springs work on the TRF units.

I put TRF's on my Xray and I love them, xray springs work on them no problem:

Here's an email I sent to another guy I race with ...has all the part numbers and stuff that I used:

For Blue:
Shocks:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSA3&P=7
Ball Connectors:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSC8&P=7

For Red:
Shocks:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSA4&P=7
Ball Connectors:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSC9&P=7

Then you'll need 1 of these xray ball joints:
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...l?pn=XRA303220

And one of these xray ball ends (unless you want to try and take out of your xray shocks):
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...l?pn=XRA303240

...I used the xray aluminum collars as the Tamiya ones where "cheezy"

You will also need 4 - 3 mm lock nuts

On the ball connectors, the shocks come with gold ones, so the colored ones above are just if you want to "color coordinate",

OK, now for the front shocks, you will use 2 of the ball connectors with 3 mm nuts for the top into the shock tower, and 2 of the Xray ball joints with the ball ends put in them on the shock shaft, you'll need to cut the ball end just above the "nut" looking thingee ...where this red line is:

This will go on the bottom with a 3mmx10mm screw into the arm, I made the from shocks 65mm ling

Now the rear shocks, you'll use the short connectors in the tamiya set for the bottom of the shock, you will use 2 of the ball connectors with 3 mm nuts for the top into the shock tower, for the arm you'll screw 2 of the ball connectors into the arms, I made the rear shocks 61.5mm long

xray springs work perfectly

I'm getting a set of these:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXETK6&P=7

That I *think* should work instead of the ball connectors were I can put a 3mm screw through them (the ball conectors make me "nervous")

thanks harsh. If I wasnt such a lazy arse I would have searched back a few pages and found that. I remember reading it now.
good to hear the xray springs work also. I have every one of um.

hows the up keep on the TRF shocks ? Seems like every 3 runs on the xray units they would go flat and I would have to redo them (I hate bleeding shocks)

yea ..actually I changed the setp a tad from that one posting ...the TRF's don't go flat and they're hella smooth and easy as pie to bleed, but no externally adjustable holes ...always a tradeoff

I have the front set on the most loose setting possible (the notch that has a big gap before it) and my front belt is still actually a little tight compared to my FK04. Any help will be appreciated.
Check in between the teeth of the diff pulley. One or two race days on a track that needs to be vacuumed and I find gunk guilt up in the teeth and a very tight belt. Happens more on the front than the rear.

I got the ball nuts today from tower and they work KILLER ...the shock wasn't rotating as much as I'd like it to on the ball once I put a screw through it so I put some General Silicon coned washsers with the coned side toward the ball and they work PERFECTLY ...now no worries of anything "poping off":

front shocks:

rear shocks:
