Motor Tuning: Springs
 

I had a few questions on specific tuning methods using different motor springs. I know that softer springs for RPM and harder for torque, and what not. But as a guideline, do you want to use springs that complement a motors qualities or use springs that will boost its shortcomings? For example, the Binary2 stock motor has high RPM and low torque, so would it be better to use harder springs to make up for it's lack of torque, or use softer springs in order to let it rev? I know it depends a lot on many things, like track size, but I'm looking for some general rule of thumbs. Thanks.

it depends on the track and driver preference. I usually would run reds or a red green on the binary 2, to let it spool up a ton of revs. I would then just gear short to compensate

That's what I'm currently running: red/green springs, Reedy 767's, and a final drive of 8.23.
This is for a mid-sized track that is pretty fast.
Should I start with purple/red on a EPIC ROAR stock? And gear a tooth under a monster?
