The data sheets don't tell the story. I buy random fans all of the time looking for the next one....

Generally all of the cfm ratings from vendor to vender differ.

I guess I'm going to have to start looking at 3 wire fans

No I have not looked at any of the specs of any fans to be honest. I hook them up, do the feel test and go from there. I know at the birds my motor was running what I thought was border line hot. Robbie from Superior came over and told me I needed to at least try one of his fans. He showed me one on someone else's car and it did move much more air than what I was using so I bought one. Motor temps went down about 20 degrees from a fan change.

He later said that he had to buy some crazy amount of them as he had them made to his specs. I know he had several thousand of them at the shop boxed up so I would assume he probably wasnt BS'ing about having them made. If they were something easy to get he wouldnt have bought that many at one time I am guessing.

I believe he said it was 12-15 cfm's but I cant remember exactly....it is bigger and heavier though than the Side Piece racing fans that work awesome for ones plugged into a receiver. It moves more air off of 5 volts than most do off of 8.4 volts except the superior hobbies fan.

Just placed order! I will take your word for it! Have been using Team Powers 40mm fan wired to speedo. Its OK but always looking to improve!

Ok, I guess I'll have to order one then
I do think the price is pretty steep though. Normal good high airflow fans are $5 - $8. $15 for a really good one would be okay. But $30 for a 30mm fan ? Wow
Apparently he sold a lot 'cause if he had thousends, the site now says there's only 26 left in stock.

Cheers !

Zeppin 30mm fan is good, but it is not comparable to Yeah Racing's.

Zeppin's 40mm fan is a bit better than R1Wurkz's but nothing to lose sleep over.

I have yet to test Superior Hobbies's. I'll report back when I do.

I have to apologize for calling fans "creatively specced".
I just received the Zeppin 30x30x10mm fan and holy shit does that thing move air !
It moves a lot more air than my own 30x30x15mm fan. Back to the drawing board

How so ? Zeppin's rated at 8.5cfm, Yeah Racing Tornado at 5.5.

Yeah Racing's throw 3.5g-3.7g on a scale. Zeppin was struggling getting up to 2g.

I would love to go by what the specs say. They just never hold true. I have over 10 fans, Yeah Racing is still top of the hill. The Zeppin's 40mm is a contender for its size.

Very pleased with Superior Hobbies fan. Finally tested this weekend. Was worried cause I was always on the verge with my Team Powers fan at 150 degree range. Same set up and gears temps went down to 125 degrees. Will gear a bit higher next week and test.

I put the Zepping 30x30x10mm on my Hobbywing SCT Pro Esc, put my car on the track, took the first jump and then I found the fan-blades lying on the track after the landing.

So I think their description :
>Up to 20000 hours lifetime (mounted on staple surface)

actually means "mounted on stable, solid, non-moving, shock-free surface"

Probably because the PC fans you deal with are 12V

I have two large boxes filled with various PC fans from 40mm to 120mm right beside me now. None are any use for RC.

Putting my current NMB 5V 40mm fan near a small scale I can get over 10g, it's rated at 8.2cfm.

Skiddins

P.S. I think that some of these cfm ratings for 30mm fans people have mentioned are in fantasy land, or their mistaken.
Over 8cfm for a 30mm sounds highly unlikely, can someone measure on the scales please
