So does anyone know anything about the Speed Passion motor they're handing out in the amateur class? No one I know runs them. Is this motor any good, comparable to other 17.5s?

If its the same as past year's. Turn the timing up to +10 (Max allowable) and gear to about 3.5 FDR.

Are you allowed to swap out the timing rings in those motors? If so, now would be the time to order the yellow ring.

If you start altering the motor by changing parts on it, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the whole handout motor idea?

Whatever the motor has in it when it is handed to you that is how it must stay. No swapping of pieces.

Hey Kraig, can you find out if the amateur class is restricted on stickers and t-shirts with logos this year?

Is it too much to ask what the amateur rules are, or at least where they are posted?

When they say no stickers do they mean NONE at all, go buy logofree clothing because old race shirts aren't ok, or no RC logos? Because my sedan body looks very similar to my avatar...and I need to do something different.

You know, man...same as last year!

Seriously, I agree. I was at IIC last year, but didn't race this class, so I didn't pay attention to the rules. If I can't wear my race t-shirts on the stand, I assume that my body can't have any decals either?

I dont think race shirts with any logos can be worn. A friend of mine was wearing a Reedy race handout shirt and was asked to turn it inside out before getting on the stand.

Better safe than sorry.

simple rules for amatuer:

just paint another body and put nothing on it.
keep the IIC shirt you get with entry in pit and put it on over whatever you are wearing that day when you go up to race amauter.
run the motor you get with entry set to max timing, don't take it apart, and gear it till it doesn't go any faster, use a large fan.
rest of the rules weight, height ect.. are same as other tc classes.

everything else, same as last year...

In years past the IIC shirt you got with registration could be worn by amateurs.
