Factory setting on step is 5,1,6 with both of mine. I think yours was turned up already.

8A, 1A, 8A doesn't sound like the factory setting...
that's probably your friends setting since you have the charger borrowed...
but anyways... for Sanyo 3000s....

I would try the following
Stage 1: 6A, 2400mah, 131 degrees
Stage 2: 1A, 2500mah, 131 degrees
Stage 3: 7A, 3400mah, 131 degrees and set delta peak around 30mv for 6 cells

Just remember to discharge your batteries on a equalizer tray before using the 3 stage charging since it doesn't do delta peak detect in the first two stages of the charge process. Also remember to loop the temperature sensor as a safe guard, I've been lazy with discharging a few times and that temperature cut-off saved my batteries from overheating. THANK GOD!!!!

Give it a try and let us know how it goes

Thanks guys!

I will worked on the packs tonight and post some number.. I know the batteries are old but a good comparison might help out.

Im experimenting with 2 chargers.. one with the updated software and one with the old one just to see the difference.

Has anyone else tried the APS step charging, and if so what did you use the factory settings or something else?

Also, When you are checking motors with the dyno part how long do you need to run the motor for during the test?

Im interested in getting this charger and I have some questions. The motor run in has a 20A maximum current draw, my power supply is only 13A, if something is binding in a motor or my lathe pulls more than 13A will that fry my power supply? Is there any way to limit the amp draw? The minimum charge rate is .5 amps, during step charging, it seems like with other chargers people set the 2nd step to .2 or .3 amps, is the .5 really too high, or is it just not much of a difference? Is the charger easy to use with the menus and stuff? The html file of the manual looks pretty bad, but if its self explanatory, then it shouldnt be a problem. If there's a problem with the rpm sensor like some have had, can you just send them the rpm sensor for repair? Is there any type of delayed start charging, like you set a timer for the charge to start? Can you change settings while charging, like charge rate and peak detection? Is there any reason that I should consider the orion advantage over this charger? The advantage has megaflex charging which I dont think I would use anyway, and I think it has the delayed start feature, it doesnt have any rpm sensor though, anything else to it?

Thanks

Great charger. But here's a little word of advice:

If you live somewhere that gets pretty cold, don't leave your chargers out there. They don't seem to work right once they warm up again. I've got two that are on the fritz now thanks to sitting in my car for a couple of hours before I raced.

While this is probably true of all electronics, I've done this a lot in my life, and never had a problem like this. I suppose it's time to get them upgraded to the new firmware anyway. :-(
